I mean, have you ever picked up a guitar?

I was breezing through expert songs on GHI within 2 days, and after 3 days of practicing with a real guitar, I can barely play Ode to Joy.

I talked to three guitarists while on my vacation in NYC who have all played for years.

After a few hours of Guitar Hero on Medium, they still had difficulty just passing songs, let alone 5-starring them.

Well I'm getting the game in a few days and I'm going to start seriously playing it. Can somebody please tell me how I should use the guitar. I'm left handed and every time I play I play right handed because I'm usually at a party and I don't want to waste time changing the option. Also where do I keep my fingers on the keys in the beginning. ALSO how do I strum and what finger(s) do I use if I want to eventually do TTFAF ect.

Also is it worth also getting GHII or should I just get GHIII.

I love people who think that Guitar Hero is harder than playing guitar.

My brother has been playing guitar for about a half hour a day for three years. He can play some basic songs, but nothing extremely exquisite.

I have been playing Guitar Hero for an average of about fifteen minutes a day for six months. I can 4* TFAF. I can 100% songs that my brother can't even consider playing on the real guitar yet.

Saying that Guitar Hero is more difficult than the real instrument is ignorant, and the only people who make stupid claims like that are guitarists who speak before they think and arrogant GH players who think that their game is superior to the real instrument.

also that's a live version of knights of cydonia and unless you're completely tone deaf it's blatantly obvious he's playing a hugely simplified version of the vocal solo riff so that he doesn't screw up

Neither. How about moving your entire hand up and down six small strings stretched across 24 frets, having to balance strumming the correct string,with correct timing, making sure you have the string held down right and not touching other strings to make sure you don't get a wrong sound? When it comes to certain chords, not strumming some strings in the middle of strumming the strings surrounding it? And having one finger stretched across the entire fret and still stretching your hand out to hold down certain strings on other chords?

OR. Having 5 pretty buttons, color coordinated for you, rarely having to move your hand up and down the fret at all, and strumming basicly one string? In semi-perfect timing.

By the way, someone mentioned earlier that a real guitar is much harder than Guitar Hero, even after I said otherwise.

They all said the same thing. "This is nothing like playing a real guitar. A real guitar is much easier."

Not a single one of them managed to learn how to play the blue note well enough to beat Tom Morello on Medium because they could never hit the battle notes. Yet, those same people can regularly play songs similar to One and Cliffs of Dover on their guitars.

All in all, unless Guitar Hero 4 has ~75% songs I like and cuts back on the difficulty, I won't be getting it. Instead I might just invest in an actual guitar.

Uh, you're not taking into account that guitar skill doesn't transition to guitar hero, and they've been playing guitar for years and guitar hero for 'a few hours'. I mean come on. It takes years to learn to play the guitar really well, and to play some of the hardest songs out there, months and months of practice. This doesn't include the astronomical number of hours learning theory and practicing technique.

You can master this game in a few months. It's basically guitar for dummies and nowhere even close to as hard to play as a real instrument.

I'd get GH2 as well if you end up liking guitar hero. It has a lot of really hard charts for more practice and a lot of good music. The charts generally contain more solos and less chords too.

I got it for Christmas, returned it the next day because the wireless controller was broken.

$95 richer I am!

There is also one huge difference between Guitar Hero and Guitar Reality.

Guitar Hero: Based on hand-eye cordination, timing, and reaction to falling notes to play the song

Guitar Reality: Based on knowing how play the guitar properly, memorization of notes to play before the real thing.

Also, the intro to TTFaF is an acoustic guitar, NOT keyboard.

So I have 3 stars on 3's & 7's. Am I the only one that can't do this song? What the **** is this?

Everything else is 5 stars. 92% on raining blood...I feel like I could improve it quite a bit but I'm still not used to the timing in this game. 99% on Knights of Cydonia (random misses in fast strum section + miss at OBGOBG stuff...such a gay pattern). I have a bunch of 100%'s too, which is odd...I have maybe 3 100%'s on GH2 and they were significantly harder to get. A good chunk of the expert songs in this game are really easy, and then a good chunk...not so easy D:

Is this lou battle a ****ing joke or something? He always gets the first power up, and if he gets double notes than you die every time during the solos. What the **** is this D: It's all luck and it's getting boring fast.

Apparently you just kill him with the whammy, but I can't seem to get one. I either get killed/miss it or don't get a whammy D: This mother ****er barely goes into yellow when you use 2x notes on him.
