    4) Is the song ~generally hard~, or does it just have one hard section a newbie could get through with a few misses?

And no offense, Steele, but unless you can pass almost all the songs in the game, it's hard for you to be an objective arbiter of difficulty. I bet you couldn't even tell me whether Molto Vivace or Revolutionary Etude is harder.
That -is- good criteria, and I never accused you of making ratings up out of your arse. However, my -basic- point, which, i admit, got lost in a sea of typos and "I'm tired-off-my-ass" ranting, is that there's too big a difference in some songs you've plopped into some ratings, which makes the low number of rating levels akin to false advertising.

And you're right, can't tell you which hard song is harder.. but i can definatly tell you which easy songs are easier or harder when compared to one another, something i think which may be lost on more experienced players.

As for those two songs: Hard to tell, as i died before i could even mutter wtf :P, but i'd have to go with Molto, if only because it's hard to press 4 keys at too close a time without my motherboard beeping at me and locking the keyboard up *shrugs*

Tasslefoot: 'fraid not currently. Slow brain + slow fingers + 2 dozen arrows streaking across the screen = "Wtf I r d34d" =P And yes, i stink. I'm sure I'm not the only one, though, which is why i feel the need to advocate agaisnt a rating system that would use the word "intermediate" to describe songs which are "hard" by most standards, or "begginer" for songs that some "begginners" might not beable to pass.

Falling Into You belongs in beginner, if Stay With Me is going to. I'd give This Beat is for Tha Streets a step up because although the notes are not fast, they're confusing and don't go well with the music, making it difficult. Step up for 4F73R M3. Step down for Crystalis.

That's all I've got to say, coming from someone who, by your lists, fits in the "easy" category.

Edit: Actually after looking it over, This Beat is for Tha Streets doesn't compete with the songs in Easy, so I guess it's okay.

crystalis needs a bump down??? i consider myself a pretty decent player... and i have some issues FCing crystalis on a regular basis... now, yes... it is mostly because the arrows are off-sync in this sets of jackhammers and FFR doesn't register jackhammer hits well at all... but i should still be able to FC it most of the time, whereas i only do about 30% of the time... the jackhammers alone make crystalis a fairly challenging song, one that i doubt a beginner could FC without having a ton of boos (25+)

and, After Me... its good were it is... its a very easy song to get a long combo in, with the only challenging parts to hit are the triple-triple-triple-double double jackhammers near the end, and the more confisuing set of the same run at the end... easy song to get a million+ on every time... and pretty easy to get an 800+ combo on it as well. i usually mash the jackhammer doubles at the end, just because FFR usually doesn't register ever stroke i make... so the 10 boos or so i take is a compromise to getting that 888 full combo most of the time.

I'm really seriously horrible at 4F73R M3... I have no idea how you can do that on it. To me it doesn't belong with the rest of them.

And yeah, I think it's hard to FC Crystalis, but the REST of it is fairly easy dont' you think?

Steele - Some songs in some categories are harder than others. In DDR, you can't honestly say Max300 Heavy is as hard as PSMO, but they're in the same category. That's because it's silly and argumentative to split all those songs into yet more categories.

Also, the more categories there are, the more argument over what belongs in what category.

Reasons why Crystalis is in Intermediate:
            1) Hard jackhammer parts
            2) Most of the notes do not follow a standard one, two, three, four constant beat like most of the songs in Easy do. Instead, they follow the melody of the song, and it may be hard for people on Easy songs to identify this.
            3) It's harder than everything in Easy, and easier than everything in Advanced.

Remember how you should be looking at these categories. Before you protest, ask: "Is it easier than everything in the category above it, and harder than everything in the category below it?" If the answers are yes, it's where it should be.

I like this rating system... I usually rate all my stuff on SM 10-13, but that's because all my simfiles are basically the latter half of difficulty of this anyway.

4F73R M3 is definitely harder than Crystalis by quite a bit and I really think it deserves a step up... I'm pretty good at Crystalis but horrible at 4F73R M3. I reconsidered, Crystalis is fine where it is, but 4F73R M3 isn't.

I actually find steps that go to the beat of the song are often easier than just tons of quarter notes or eighths or whatever all repetitive. I liked Crystalis because of that. It's so much easier. 4F73R M3 is on a similar level to Final Fantasy 7 Battle.

and FF7 is easy. i have a FC with 11 greats on that song.... even though its fairly off-sync...

and, arch'll be mad if you say his stepfiles don't go with the music... After Me does go with the song.... i like it. just too long.

I didn't say it doesn't go with the music. Read again. And yeah, now you know how badly I suck at 4F73R M3. Crystalis is SO much easier. I mean SO SO SO much easier.

I think this topic just might get stickied soon. You never know.

Maybe a totally "doesnt go with the music" section under master, for songs like most of the classical songs and Silence.

                      Nah, maybe not..

Whoa, good call. Hmm....it's one of the harder Easy songs, but it's definitely Easy (assuming Synth fixes all the offsync steps in it like he did with Rondo)

Added the 3 songs you mentioned above, and you were dead-on with where they belonged. See, this isn't difficult.
