I don't think its an issue of computer resources that wont run ffr well.

Playing FFR on a lap top works insanely well. I don't play spread so when I use my lap top to play SM my fingers glide across the flat buttons.

My Vista computer has better system specs than my laptop, but it runs flash like crap on any browser (even tried safari because my apple update software kept bugging me about downloading it, so I tried it) while my laptop with XP runs flash just fine on any browser.

                Re: Playing FFR with Vista

I recently switched from vista to XP and saw a huge improvement in PA. I believe it has something to do with vista running flash a few fps slower than xp would. There may be a fix in SP1. My best advice is to get xp, use a friends cd or w/e or go with an open source OS, ubuntu is free and runs ffr very nicely. If neither of these are viable options you can always spend a ton upgrading your hardware to run vista better. Even then flash will still suffer.

                  Re: Playing FFR with Vista

I run FFR on vista at school and it works fine, but they also have huge ass flat screen LCD monitors, its sweet

It works perfectly fine on that, could it be the monitor?

EDIT: Prepare for the future anyway, XP is going extinct eventually and everyone is gonna have Vista if they buy a new comp, keep your old comp's healthy if you dont want to buy Vista computers in the future

You will pretty much never ever find a need for 3 gigs of ram, but whatever.

@Magic, I'm pretty sure they already stopped making XP disks, but you can still find them places, when buying a new computer ask if you can get it with XP.

Also, High def monitors are horrible unless you can sync it, this is more a problem with TV's rather than computer monitors but I'm pretty sure the problem is still there. Flat screen non high def is fine, although you "might" get a ghost of the arrows a bit while playing, mainly with black backgrounds, not much of a problem though, won't affect your playing to much if at all.

Lastly, never buy anything wireless, ever, although I'm pretty sure this is common sense to most people.

I wouldn't say never. Wireless technology is still being improved, and my wireless mouse works very well by the way and works better than any mouse I've had for any computer (except when the battery dies), but it is a $35 mouse.

True, 360 wireless controllers are fine, but the 360 wireless guitars are horrible (at least from my experience). The few mouses I've tried don't work well with SiU, but I suppose there are some that work fine with it. But as of now it's a bit risky to buy some wireless stuff for rhythm games. Of course a wireless mouse wont affect your FFR playing at all.

ffr runs pretty decent on my laptop. it's vista, and i have no problems really. true, it does lag once in a while, and it will give me a good. but not always. i AAA LLL on my vista laptop. so, you just have to get used to it.

I have 3gb ram on my Dell with a decent lower end nvidia graphics card (3.0 on vista scale) and yet flash runs horribly (as well as some other programs; on stepmania I have no MA). I wanted to assure myself that this Vista would withstand FFR yet my Windows ME was comparable in quality of flash with my Vista. I wish I could keep the laptop I'm on ]: It's the only XP I have besides the desktop at my mom's. I really hope Microsoft provides some update for this... now that I know that I'm not the only one with this issue.

My friend's laptop has an ATI video card in his laptop, yet Flash seems a little smoother on there... however it still doesn't compare at all to XP.

Even with all performance options down, looking through so many Vista tutorials, nothing seems to get FFR to work smoothly.
