fusi0n is the original screencutter. He told me about it and him and I kept it a secret, annihilating everyone at every song... haha

    Good times.

I've always played with a high screencut, a little above the top of the combo, and it makes everything perfectly readable and much easier to PA. Speedmods on ffr work horribly on my computer and can't even process regular streams, much less 4-framers, therefore I still screencut.

Possibly...in reality though it just makes you seem more of a vet; since this is way most vets are use to playing. It seems like it would be difficult to switch, especially with the set fps, it makes arrows appear blurry and faster than they actually are imo.

              That's the way it is.

I don't know if it's just my computer but when I use the speed mods, the arrows move choppily; making it harder to read the arrows. I just use the old fashion screen cut. It's a lot better than using the speed mods, IMO. for some time I was waiting for the speed mods to come out. Now that they've made their appearance, I don't even want to bother with it. :/
Yes, screen cutting does have its positive effects on gameplay just as stated previously. I can remember when I would have problems passing a simple song and I was introduced to the idea of screen shrinking. Everything since then have increased, including PA, reaction time, etc.

I just find the concept amazing yet mind-boggling that cutting away half the screen results in such an improvement. Doesn't the clumped nature of arrows detract from accuracy? If you play DDR or ITG on a machine using 1x speeds, and just cover up half the screen, how does this help you?

what screencutting is good for: NOTHING, use speed mods!

Just as stated in the previous responses, it changes the number of arrows greatly. If there are less arrows, it seems less clustered. As well as helping your reaction time.
