"Never argue with stupid people, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
You see, screencutting works EXACTLY like a cmod--less arrows on screen, and a more fast, forced reaction. Before speedmods in FFR came out (which wasn't long ago at all), this is what most known FFR players did, and most have gotten really used to it.
I, for example, can't read anything at all on a high cmod (c600ish), especially jumpstream. I even screencut for SM, because I've played FFR longer and more than SM. =/
Screencutting does not work exactly like a speed mod.
Speed mods increase the distance between the arrows and screencutting does not. This is why speedmods > screencutting...but hey, whatever floats your boat I guess =/
Speedmods are really messed up on ffr anyway because of the fps.

This is the impression I get -- speedmods help make things easier to read because of the space. I never really understood why removing arrows helped. They're still clumped together.
It's basically removing the useless information your brain is processing. The arrows 2-3 beats later than where the song is are not doing anything but confusing your brain; eliminate those and you can only read the important patterns.
Screencut = speedmod simulation, before they came out. The only reason they're still used is because people (like me) got used to them and don't want to bother switching.
