I thought of weighting the divisions but that would not be fair either. Well, I guess we could do 24 hour tie-breakers or something.

Probably not, 24 hour-tiebreaker seems like the best bet. And for those, actually...for all the songs, it would be good to have somebody that isn't in Team Blaze or in Team Pony to pick them, so there isn't any bias.

I'm really looking forward to this when we really get the ball rolling on it

As far as someone off both teams to choose songs I think that is a good idea, although perhaps unnecessary if both teams can agree to song choices. As to who that would be I bet Team Pokemon might have a few people that could help. They seem relatively neutral as far as this is concerned.

Seems like this might not happen, some people on TP don't want to be in a tourney because it takes away from the team being not competitive

yeah, team pokemon shouldn't be in on this i think, seeing as there are tons of dual memberships with them.
not sure I like division winners either... then each division has equal weight, no matter the amount of people in it. so D4 w/ 10 people, each person doesn't contribute as much to ex D1 if there are only 2 people.


Suggestion:
so how about each person regardless of division contributing 'x' to team point for that round. say max amount of points for a round is 10, and if there are 25 people on the team. each player who meets the requirements for that round (think mobs in the FFR RPG) gives 0.4 points to their team. if there are 20 people on that team, every player contributes 0.5 points.

if we want a division system w/ winners, then I think divisions should be weighted on amount of players in it.
Two ways we could do this:
-tournament points per division with team winning who has most tourney points for that round.
-tournament points again, but this time balancing for unequal number of players/team in each division. ex TB has 6 D4, but TP only has 2. then tournament points for TP would be 3x as much. so winning would give 3 times as many points for the round.

I like the last way better i think.
finally, need to account for dif # players/division in each team. if TB has 2 D1, and 4 in D4, then you would multiply tournament points 2x for whatever is gained in D4. THis way each player is contributing equally.


Summary:
-Mobs like FFR RPG with weighting for #s
or
-Tournament points weighted both for # of players in the division, and compared to other divisions

Well we are not a competitive team per se, but why should that stop us from having some friendly rivalry that will encourage us all to improve? Plus it would not have to be some sort of "everyone on the team is forced to participate" sort of thing. I mean if I am the only person on Team Pony who wants to do this then that would be one thing, but that does not seem to be the case. As far as I know no one has stated any objection to it unless you count pointing out that Team Pony is not specifically a competitive team.

Perhaps instead of seeing who is not interested we could get numbers on who is interested and go from there.

Edit: Also since we are referencing Team Pony and Team Pokemon perhaps using the acronym TP is too ambiguous? kthx

I meant everyone so far, not just you. Your and Jake's posts just happened to be the ones that made me think of saying something since they came after I mentioned Team Pokémon members being involved with helping run it as a neutral team.

I mentioned Team Pokémon because both Team Pony and Team Blaze have members who are also in team Pokémon. Plus there is Bmah. He probably has a bit of experience with things like this, so especially if he was on board then there ought to be fairness for all.

Probably a dumb idea, but I'm thinking maybe a partner tournament (similar to Rebirth's doubles tournament) where a member from TB and a member from TP team up against another TB/TP pair.

Example:
D6: Alex/EzE vs. AJ/Staiain vs. OWA/bmah vs. et cetera
D5: Arbilerator/bob bob vs. Ian/Cammy vs. Darkomni/Ben vs. megamon/chocobothief vs. et cetera

and so on down the line. Would satisfy TB's want/need/desire/whatever you want to call it to be competitive, at the same time preserving TP's view of being more of a "fun" team.

Pretty much. I've never had any experience with lining up a tournament, so it's more of a rough idea than anything thoroughly thought out. Could maybe change it to three separate divisions (and therefore three separate brackets) consisting of D5/D6 pairs, D3/D4 pairs, and D1/D2 pairs.

In that case, someone who is D5 in TP would be paired up with someone who is D6 from TB (or D5 TB member with a D6 TP member). The same format would follow for the other divisions.

This would be more reasonable given the fact that there would probably be fewer people in this tourney than most.

Unfortunately, if there's one thing on FFR I lack completely, it's experience in hosting a tournament of any sort. I'm not the right guy to set up a proper tourney infrastructure...

I kind of like this idea as well. I'm talking things over with Megamon at the moment so perhaps we can actually get something to happen.
