But FFR is a rhythm game like ddr or sm. I really can't see any other type of flash game existing on a rhythm game-specific site

If we were to add additional games to FFR, they would be other rhythm games.

Do you mind elaborating on that, or is that just a flame? Kongregate seems to do well enough, so why would a similar idea be, in your words, "a retarded idea"? Would you care to enlighten with any better ideas?

Well there are a few possibilities here.

1) A new, larger over-site could be created, which housed and linked to everything else, with each game having its own website. This is probably too expensive though (paying yearly for all those domain names/etc...)

2) FFR remains the main focus but the other games still exist as an additional draw.

3) Restrict the games to rhythm-only.

It's all about compromise and seeing what people want -- and only then is it about any possible new directions/changes. Input first.

I don't think adding more games to this site is a good idea. Just look at how MeTrivia or Spin It Up have died off.
Fix what's wrong with the core of the site- FFR the game and the forums- and get them working smoothly before branching off.

@Middie, I could make a long rant-y kind of thing here but that's better suited for PMs. Check your inbox in a sec~

Step a song by NoneLikeJoshua, a pretty big guy who I recently got Blanket Permission from, he said he'd spread the news to his fan base (over 29k subscribers on youtube alone).

Maybe a song like this one, since we also have ephixa's permission?

Bring an actual gambling hall for real money...

- For serious, we should advertise on other rhythm game websites. We could get donations from this awesome group of members to start.

- New unique games.

- Getting popular artists' permission would bring a TON more users to FFR. (Might be hard)

Use spin it up or tower defense games as those games? Hell no! Spin it up has its own problems (major lag being one, pixel-perfect precision required to play being another) and tower defense is just not any fun. No RTS, catapult/cannon launch, "dating" sims, prepare-the-food, or spot-the-differences type games either. Why? They aren't fun - that's why.

Almost any other types of games will do though. Remakes of arcade classics? Great idea!
Shoot-em-up? Great idea, provided it's done right (very tricky to do right in Flash though)
Platformers? Excellent! Puzzles? Very yes. Maze-like games? Sure. Racing games? If done well, absolutely. RPGs? Yes. You get the idea.

Also credits should be cumulative across all the games -- earn credits from any of the games -- also spend credits to unlock courses, levels, etc.. in any of the games. Maybe you have to earn some achievement in one game to unlock a particular thing in another, etc... And each game could have its own essentially token/unlock system.

But its important to choose games and game genres that every player will like. Also it would be a lot of work and could take a lot of time to do. I understand this. And in the end it may not be worth the effort -- I also understand this.

TL;DR Diversify the site to grow it! Instead of just FFR it could be grown to become a general Flash gaming site, like Kongregate or Newgrounds. Retain quality in all things added, and try to inter-link them as well.
This would be pretty cool, not sure how possible it would be to make happen though. While FFR the game is great, Its only targeted towards a certain niche. Adding more games will increase our target audience and should easily bring in more members. Unfortunately, something like this would be extremely tedious to do without ALOT of help. I just don't think something of this scale would be possible in our current state. Could be wrong though.

Re: Ideas for Events and for Drawing New Members (& a brief message)

The main reason why I suggested a TD game was because keeping the rhythm aspect with a new spin (that people play a lot, apparently) could get a new base of users. I like some TD games, but of course they get boring after a while. A rhythm one would be cool that fits with FFR though.

A tower defence game would actually be hilariously awesome.

This. See the previous posts about the TD. Sounds pretty epic.

It would be vastly difficult to improve our membership here. The page design would need to be more appealing for those who randomly stumble upon this site, and beyond that we would need to add more games and improve the ones we already have. Why add more games? People who go to gaming websites would like to see more options, and the lack thereof would make people go away. I'm sure every once in a while someone new comes on, and if they would occasionally stay and keep on staying that would obviously create a larger community.

We don't need all rhythm games, but it would nicely fit the theme of the site. If we do try to make new games, teasers would be nice. Demos would be nice. There's no guarantee it would all work, because in the end the mainstream plays a large role in whether or not people will find this site at all.

Ah. Rhythm based TD game... interesting.
Just found the two statements funny in contrast. No hate~
