There are some things money can't buy, but damn the things that money CAN buy sure do have great audio quality!

I was doing some more sound theory research today and came accross this interesting site:

It, and the sites linked within, discusses the major problem of record companies wanting mastering engineers to "make it hot", where audio is cranked up to make it sound louder than other songs, making an impression.

Unfortunately, the louder you make it, the more likely it is to hit clipping, causing sound distortion. This means the awesome CD that you pay good money for comes out not so great. Still going through a lot of these articles, but needless to say I'm glad I saw this early on in my learning period.
