The songs folder is just on your desktop? The songs folder needs to be in the stepmania folder. I think that's your problem.

Yeah. In order for you to play your songs, you need to create a folder in the song's folder that has a bunch of your songs. Each song should be in its own folder, with 4 - 6 other files in there.
