Cancer

Both of my girlfriend's grandparents have been diagnosed with cancer over the last two months. She just called me in tears. They mean everything to her.

Seriously, what can one say in those kinds of situation?

Edit: He passed away on April 1st of 2012. May he rest in piece.

There's not much you can say bro... And there's not much you should say either.
It's one of those things she needs to feel and accept, so just tell her you'll be there for her, and SHOW her that you are. Might make life a little bit easier for her.
Just my two cents. Also, I feel sorry for your sweetie...

That definitely sucks, but it might not be the end of them. My grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer well into her 70's, had to have surgery, and survived.
So just keep in mind that there IS some hope.
