Mark your calendars

We made a visit to Time Warner to sign up for our cable services and our appointment is scheduled next Friday for the installation. So, the new songs will be added probably sometime next weekend as long as everything goes well and I can get a hold of Synthlight in a timely manner (you should probably pm me sometime soon Synth). This also gives me another week to work on stepfiles, so the next expansion should bring some good surprises. Until then, have fun.

OMG NEW SONGS!!! (sorry, I just had to use caps lock)

Another day another story, another feature, another fix. That about sums up our work today on FFR.

We have had quite a few modifications to the FFRchat in recent days thanks to Jason Key and his crew over at NewFoundSystems. Big thanks go out to them for continuing to add features requested by the users here at FFR. Use the link above to stop in and chat with us sometime. There is usually always someone in there.

We also unleashed 3 songs that are FFR exclusives and included work from Bemaniruler, SuperGreenX, Banya and Spazzbite. They are as follows:

*Contradistinction from SupergreenX. This song is located in the new Dance3 section in FFR and is yet another fine tune from Mr. SuperGreenX. The stepfile (created by Bemaniruler himself) is a cool flowing piece for the moderate FFR player to enjoy. Thanks to SGX for another fine piece and the permission to use his work. You can check out his other songs at http://www.mp3.com/supergreenx

*Beethoven Virus by Banya. Yes, that is the same Banya that you see featured in many PIU tracks. He has attained permission to use this song on FFR. The stepfile on this one was also created by Bemaniruler and is a piece of art like the rest of his works. Again, this song is best for moderate players. Most will be able to pass it with no problem. Being placed in the top 50 is a whole nother story :) . I almost put this song in classical but it really has an electronic ring to it so I included it in Dance3. Banya, please message me if you want us to put up a link to your site. (do you have one? you should! :) )

*One Minute Waltz by Chopin. This is definately a classical tune and falls into the classical section as song #6. The stepfile (god have mercy on you all) is for those who like to torture themselves. The stepfile does have a flow to it but unless a miracle happens, I will never pass this level. The stepfile is Spazzbite’s first piece of work on FFR. He was nice enough to redit the stepfile to fall within compatibility with my converter. Maybe we will see more from him in the future?

Thanks to Bemaniruler, SuperGreenX, Banya and Spazzbite for their involvement in these levels. Look for more in the near future. :)

Cheers,

Synthlight

Starting over

Posted in Uncategorized on August 19th, 20038 Comments »

Alright, my girlfriend and I are finally moved into our apartment and it has been hard work but we are settled in now. We are not going to have Internet until at least the 30th, but I’m guessing it won’t be until early September. That will give some time to work on a few things. I have lots and lots of songs to do files for and the poll results have helped in pulling in a few more songs for me. I have many arcade/game, rock and dance songs available and those will be the majority of the next song batch released. Keep looking in early September for the next song expansion!

FFR Contest is Over!!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 13th, 200332 Comments »

Well it is hard to believe that an entire week has passed since I put up the contest. There has been some furious action going on when it comes to high-scores and I will be announcing the winner as early as tomorrow morning if my research goes as quickly as planned. I have to verify that certain people have legitimate scores. I have already disqualified a few people who failed the score checks and logs. I really wish these people would come forward and PM so that we can make FFR a better game. Hell, I would even be willing to send them a prize if they shared their methods with me.

At any rate.. I know the legitimate scores and will catch you all tomorrow and post some results. Thanks for participating in the contest. As of this week, FOTBB will become a normal level in classical.

Cheers,

**SYNTHETIC EDIT 11:00pm CST** Well. The show is over and the normal playlist is back on. Big thanks to Spook and Sash for their time. It was enjoyed but quite a few people over the last 2 hours. Hopefully all the connections won’t break my bank on server transfer… wow.. lol.. Great set guys!

FFR Contest Announcement.. BIG PRIZE!!!!!!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on August 6th, 200360 Comments »

Well.. As if the big live show on Friday with Sashcat
& Spook Goblin wasn’t enough, we are announcing a new contest that will begin
immediately from the start of this post and will last 7 days (August 12th at
midnight CST).

PRIZE: 1 DDR MAX game for the Playstation2 along with 2 (YES 2!) Red Octane Soft
Pads.

CONTEST GOAL: Attain the HIGHEST score on a new level that we have released
tonight before the end of the contest 1 week from now. Follow these instructions
in order to start the level.
1.) Load FFR
2.) Press the HOME key
3.) Type fotbb into the window
4.) Press the X icon and wait for level to load
5.) Attain highest score before midnight on August 12th

ADDITIONAL RULES: You can play as many times as you wish but remember NO
cheating. We log everything with these songs so that we can go back later and
look at activity and how people achieved their scores. Not only do we log the
scores but there are some routines in place that will auto-erase your hi-scores
and or account the scripts detect cheating. Any foul play or if we even suspect
foul play, you will be disqualified. Any activity to disrupt or illegally enter
the server will be met with legal action. Just remember to have fun with this. I
provide FFR for the fun of it. For the love of the FFR/DDR community.

ABOUT THE LEVEL: This level is based on music composed by the great Rimsky
Koraskov (Flight of the BumbleBee). The DWI was created by Arch0wl and is
definately one of the more difficult but well crafted levels that I have come
across. This level rates as a 12 on difficulty. Yeah, it is hard but because it
flows so well you will learn it’s patterns fairly easy. I personally cannot even
finish it yet but that is just me. :) Big thanks for Arch0wl for donating this
fine piece of work.

ABOUT OUR SPONSOR: Well… That’s me, Synthlight. The money is comming out of my
own pocket on this one. Consider it an early Christmas gift. Lol. If you want to
help support FFR then order a webhosting account from my webhosting business
that I run to cover FFR costs. We now offer $8 domain registration!
http://www.postproduction.com/v2/
(that links to the new site layout that is 90% complete but fully operational
from a billing/system standpoint. Comments welcome). FFR as always is 100% free.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: There will be a second mystery prize announced for the top
score on a random level. This second prize follows the same rules as above only
with a different level and a different prize. :) Don’t PM me, i won’t tell you
what the prize or level is. Good Luck on the contest and remember to take it
easy on those fingers! BTW, if your configuration does not want to load the
level or if you have troubles you may ask around but please don’t bother any
admins. This level is tested and works on all common browser configurations that
support the Macromedia Flash player plugin.

DJ’s Sashcat & Spook Goblin Wreck’n the Decks One Last Time on FFR

Posted in Uncategorized on August 5th, 20037 Comments »

DJ’s Sashcat and Spook Goblin willing be mixing live one LAST time together this FRIDAY at 9pm CST on our FFR Radio stream (http://207.44.158.35:8000/listen.pls). This will be the last time you hear them together before Sashcat leaves the Los Angles area in pursuit of life and other unknown interests.
We have no predetermined time that they will stop broadcasting so they may just go until their fingers fall off. So make sure you tune in on Friday night. This will definately be a show that you don’t want to miss as it will be the last of it’s kind for Spook & Sash.

Up until showtime we will be playing DDR & FFR tunes non-stop at the streaming address. At show time there will be a brief disconnect in the stream and then Sash & Spook will take over and carry us through the rest of the evening. :)

See you all on Friday!

*EDIT* – My mistake. Sash is merely going on vacation to a far away place ;) . I was misinformed.
