Another Night, Another Feature. SpinItUP!2 Embeddable Player Release
We have been getting fantastic responses and feedback from everyone regarding the new SpinItUP!2 release with realtime multiplayer . Xelius has been working double duty to keep up with the current projects I have him working on while somehow handling requests and suggestions from everyone. The public beta release has been a huge success with very few bugs. If you have not already given it a spun (hey, no pun intended.. I swear) then go ahead and play it by CLICKING HERE.
As if that wasn’t enough, we have crafted a special version that you can use to embed SIU and any level of your choice on an page outside of FFR. You simply select your preferred dimension, select a level and the embed code is created automatically for you. All you have to do after that is paste the code on your myspace, facebook or homepage elsewhere. We will routinely update this embedded player automatically and you will instantly see the upgrades on the embedded pages. Some of our first features will be a play counter for your embedded SIU!2 compared to other sites among other stats comparing your embedded song to others. You can thank Jasonkey for this one. He crafted this page today for your gaming pleasure. You can find the embedded player code by CLICKING HERE
One last thing I would like to mention is that if you are a band or artist and you are interested in being promoted via custom graphics and levels with this embedded player, we are willing to entertain your requests if the right conditions exist. For more details please send any URL’s and other data or bio about your band/group/artist info to our ffrcontact email address available at the bottom of this page.

Mou Uta Incognito v2! – #60 and #61
Mou Uta Shika Kikoenai is a Progressive Rock song by dBu (I believe it is from a Touhou game, but not 100% sure). Check out dBu here. Stepfile is by Kotarouchan, his first. File is a low 10, with mid 160s bpm trills and jumpbursts for almost 3 minutes. Unlock is a hard one, as we’re getting pretty close to the end of the chain now. Full Combo PLANETZ to unlock Mou Uta Shika Kikoenai.

SpinItUP!2 4 U 2 Spin It UP! Open Beta
So we took a week and implemented a bunch of subscriber ideas into SpinItUP!2. Xelius (being the amazing guy he is) found and fixed a bunch of bugs in the beta. We now think the current release of SpinItUP!2 is stable enough for public testing. It’s close but not 100% perfect. That is why we call it open beta right?
Go check out multiplayer.

Enjoy. Btw, we have officially replaced the old previous beta link on the naviation with this new version.
Cheers,
TAKE ME DOWN TO SYNTHLIGHT CITY, WHERE THE GRASS IS GREEN AND THE GIRLS ARE PRETTY!
I’d just like to bring this fun little community builder to everyone’s attention. The website Miniville allows communities to build their own city. Chromer created Synthlight City. By clicking on that link, you’ll add +1 to the city’s population, making the overall landscape of our land grow bigger. BUT! Having the biggest population isn’t the only factor. We also have to have people who increase our transit, industry, environment, security, and commerce. If you want to contribute to more than just the population of Synthlight city, you can check out this thread for all the details (and translations to English, as the site is all in French). You can click on 1 link per IP every day, with it re-setting at midnight French time (6pm EST). We have a population of over 1500 currently – 10th in the region, with perfect stats all round. Check out our skyscrapers!
Have fun, and lets build us bigger!
-Tass
EDIT – changed the link for Synthlight City to a script made by Alainbryden that will optimize everyone’s clicks. That way we can fix our now poor unemployment, pollution, crime, and lack of transportation. It will re-direct you to the correct link.
Did your CREDITS fall down an ABYSS (Downbeat Mix)? – #59
So, now that credits are back in order… we figured we’d release the 2nd skill token for tonight, and get back on track.
Abyss (Downbeat Mix) is a remix of the classic DDR song Abyss, done by Saxxonpike. Melodic 90bpm, it has plenty of 16th minijacks to keep you awake and focused. Stepfile is by Silver_Brian. I rated it a 6, overall… the only difficult parts are the minijacks, and even those go perfectly with the music and are easy to follow. The unlock req is another unique one… with a bit of anti-token to it, in that you have to get at least 1 good, 1 average, 1 miss, and 1 boo. Beyond that, there IS a skill element to it also. The unlock song is Horizon, another Saxxonpike song. On Horizon, you must get your goods * averages * misses * boos to be greater than 0 (hence they all have to be at least 1) BUT less than 5000 (aka, you can’t mash or have 100 goods and 50 averages, or 250 goods and 10 misses and 2 boos). Little bit of math involved, but as long as you’re fairly accurate and don’t mash, you should be fine. Horizon is in Misc.
Enjoy,
-Tass
Credits. How Many Do You Have?
The answer is either a HUGE amount or none at all right? That is because we are simply doing some changes to our scripts and updated a few things. We will revert back to normal fairly soon. Your credits may adjust a small amount. Hopefully you haven’t been cheating!
*EDIT* Credits are almost restored to their state on the 19th of July. Within 20 minutes they will be restored fully and will be up to date.
*LD EDIT*: Credits have been restored… thanks for your patience.
Cheers,
Synthlight
Add Another Ad Taken Away
As long as I can remember, both myself and the numerous staff here at FFR have worked very hard to bring you the most content and features for the absolute lowest amount money. The cost of “Free” is pretty damn hard to beat when you think about how large this site has become. We now can dish out 800GB or more of data transferred on a single day and have nearly 1.3 million members. This comes out to more than 300,000 games of FFR played each day and 300,000 ways to promote the artists and bands that take part in FFR. Not only are we still amazed and in disbelief at this but we are extemely proud to have grown an amazing online community / social network / video chat / online radio / forum / (insert a billion other aspects here). I am undoubtedly humbled by everyone’s support.
Speaking of support.. and before I ramble on about stats and how amazed I am, I should really get to the point of this news story. My point is that thanks to the generous support of people joining the beta team (FFR Subscribers), we have been able to take away one of the ads (300×250 top right) from the main page and place a smaller ad over on the left side of the navigation. This will allow for more of the content that you want to see move higher up on the page. Again, this was all made possible by those subscribing. Take time out sometime to go thank the people who are active subscribers and doing their part to help make this site a better place to live.
Or better yet, become a Subscriber yourself and help us accomplish our plans for world domination. Ok, I promise, no more subscriber hotlinks beyond this point tonight.
We have a couple more announcements lined up for tonight. I will be back this evening to make those announcements.
Cheers,
Synthlight & An Army of Wonderbread
Binary Rendezvous – #57 [Re-use of last nights write-up ++] & LunaMarionette – #58
So, I was trying to find a way to write “Binary Rendezvous” in binary… but I realized it would be like 200 characters long, so I decided not to do that. Anyway… the earlier skill token was reduced from 1200 boos to 1100. I didn’t realize that averages no longer give you back life, which makes it MUCH harder to get 1200 boos that I had originally thought. This should make it easier.
The 2 Making April songs for today are both active. Check out the upper left and middle upper of Rock page 1 for those. And check out Making April’s myspace page.
The 2nd token for today is, obviously, Binary Rendezvous. The song is by Yamajet, maker of Ruins. It has a somewhat similar sound to it. Stepfile is by Rednanaki, his 2nd file in the game… and much better than his first, if I may say so. I feel the difficulty is in the mid to high 9 range for this file. While it sounds nothing like Evil Approaches, the file itself has a similar feel, to me. 12 4-framers, 190bpm. Few odd 32nds. You get the idea. To unlock it, Full Combo Ruins with under 10 boos.
-Tass
LunaMarionette is another very rockin’ J-Rock piece by AKHT (site under construction). I rated it a 9, but I have a feeling you all will feel the song and steps merit a low 10. It’s 180bpm, and starts off with a nice long trill. From there, it has a ton of 3 and 5 note bursts ending in jumps. 0 4-framers, thankfully. The file is by Brilliant Dynamite Neon. Many of you may notice that the trill at the start starts in the middle… well, yes. This is a perfect example of why I tell stepfile authors to leave 2 seconds of blank space at the start of their file; the converter cuts off anything in the 1st 1.5 seconds.
This token unlock is our 2nd of the “perfect imperfection” type. You need to play Moonbeam (cause Moon and Luna… you get it), found at the end of Dance1. Get exactly 444 misses, exactly a combo of 4, and less than 440 perfects (I couldn’t resist the perfect part, since it made so many 4′s in the req). This does force you to get a few mandatory goods, but not many at all… most of you will likely get them automatically. As with the Destiny v2 token, there IS a specific trick to meeting this req. I will say that it is slightly more complicated than the trick for Destiny v2, but along the same lines. And you do need to pass the song (no auto-fail tricks). I’d also appreciate it if you didn’t post how you got it, make it a bit harder for those who can’t figure it out themselves. I do have a feeling that the way I did this req is not the only way though. I’ll be doing some testing to see if I’m correct.
2 new Making April songs are also available in Rock. 2nd token for today will be out later.
-Tass, take 2.
Sunlight comes a month early, in Making April – #56 and special
{Sunlight} is today’s 1st skill token release. A light mix by cornandbeans, I’m pretty sure it is from some pop/rock song that I’ve heard, but I can’t place which. Stepfile is MeaCulpa‘s first, and I like it. Mixes 8ths with 12ths with 16ths and a few 24th bursts. Good job at keeping an almost 4 minute long song interesting and not repetitive. The unlock for this is something that a LOT of people have brought up to me as a good token req (and one I’ve had in mind since before skill tokens existed). You may say this is an anti-skill token, but I beg to differ. This is not a skill or an anti-skill token. It is a straight MASH token. It is a skill-less token. Get 1200+ boos on Silence while still passing to unlock. I recommend the quadmash, although the alternating double mash works best if your keyboard can’t register more than 2 keys at a time. Shouldn’t be that hard to get 1400+, IMO. I’ve done it a few times myself.
In other news, I’m sure you ALL have checked out Making April’s new snazzy custom Embedded FFR Player on their myspace. And I know you guys have been anxious to play these files on FFR as well. Well, starting today, you can. There are a total of 6 files of Making April’s that will be released over the next 3 days (3 versions of Driveway, 2 of Roses and Butterflies, and 1 of Jump In). Today we’ll release the Standard version of Driveway, stepfile by SulferDragon and later today we’ll release the Heavy version of Roses and Butterflies, stepfile by Neonatrias. All 6 will be found in Rock.
Check back later today for the 2nd of today’s releases. And consider the Making April releases as my apology for not getting Planetz and Love Cheat! out yesterday.
-Tass
EDIT: I’d like to make it known that while I feel that {Sunlight} does in fact sound similar to some song that I can’t place, I have been informed by cornandbeans that it is quite original and not a mix of anything.
