Medicated Kisses FlashFlashRevolution Widget Hits the Web

Before I go into a detailed paragraph about the the band, I thought it was only right that I tell you what I think about this band on a personal level. From what I have seen, Alanna (lead singer) is one of those women who has absolutely no fear of breaking into the rock scene. As a matter of fact, she is someone who completely kicks ass up on stage. She not only has an amazing voice but a talented band to back her up. I have complete faith that once people hear them, there will be no turning back. Great stuff.

Medicated Kisses’ unique brand of maximum R&B is a well prescribed blend of pop influence attached to a sturdy rock backbone. Formed in 2005, the Boston band quickly garnered musical comparisons to AFI and Coheed & Cambria, with front-woman Alanna’s vocals akin to Christina Aguilera’s in range and strength. It was only fitting that in 2006 Medicated Kisses enlisted the expertise of producers Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner (Coheed & Cambria, Bad Brains, The Sleeping) to mold the band’s distinct melodies into the tracks found on their debut self-titled EP (released April 2007). The restless five-piece has played over 300 shows since the band’s inception, making for a veracious live experience that never fails to impress. With an unrelenting work ethic and creative drive, Medicated Kisses is poised for a long and steady climb.

If you like what you hear on the Medicated Kisses FFR Widget, please take the time to go listen to the rest of their tracks on Myspace and give them some FFR family love. It’s worth every minute of it.

Leaving Your Brain In A Blur – Token #25

Posted in Tokens on September 16th, 2007350 Comments »

Hey guys. Chardish here – it’s been a while, but we’ve got a new non-skill FFR Token for you guys. Because it’s been a while since the last token, we’re not going to make this an easy song…or an easy token…

Gaussian Blur is the 1st in the GB series by former FFRer Kil. It’s the most well known of the 3 Gaussian Blur’s, despite being the last of the 3 to be added. It is almost definitely the hardest of the 3. The stepfile is quite unique and different compared to the well known Stepmania files. File is by Rebirth, so you know it’s good. It’s a high For Masters Only, with almost 120 4-framers in 1000 notes, well over 200BPM, 1-handed trills, jumpstream, and 32nd rolls. This file and song is well worth the effort.

The token puzzle was derived from a series of crumpled notes we found in some books about FFR tokens in an old library. You’d be surprised how many dusty old books about FFR tokens there are if you look hard enough. Anyway, we think that some old researchers had found clues leading to a token…and we followed the instructions, and sure enough, the token was right there on our website, where the clues had led. We did not choose to put the token there – the tokens are objects of power and mystery, and they have wills of their own.

Anyway. Here’s the clues we found…

Clue 1
Clue 2
Clue 3
Clue 4
Clue 5

Solve those clues, and you should get a 37-digit number. Put that number into this URL:

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/tokens/NUMBER.php

And the token is yours. Whenever we find more of these super-secret mystery tokens, we’ll let you know. They’re not easy to find.

Cheers,
Chardish, Tasselfoot, and Quaint & Curious Volumes of Forgotten Lore

*Note from JasonKey* – Obviously, since yesterday Synth invited all your delicate FFR types to troll his profile, we figured today we would follow suit and make this a troll token of sorts. Have fun and good luck!

Some of you guys seem to be confused… but the 2nd round started this past Friday morning and will end this Thursday night at 11:59pm EST.

Check this thread for all the info on round 2… and I will post another update when Round 3 starts. After round 3, I likely will stop posting about the tournament on the main page… but all threads/updates are on the forums in the FFR Events forum.

Mean & Hurtful Contest Comes to a Close

Posted in Uncategorized on September 16th, 200744 Comments »

While normally getting nothing but praise and kind words in my profile, I challenged everyone to be as mean as possible for an entire day…

You guys did not disappoint.

I received over 1000 posts worth of anti-encouragement. It was more than I could have hoped for. As always, everyone took their contest mission seriously and belted out the words of hatred. Think of it as a therapy session to help you through this first quarter / semester of school.

Of course no contest is done right without some sort of prize. I have awarded the winner a busted old screwdriver from my fine collection of tools. I gave it my best attempt at signing it. The total worth is somewhere around .001 dollars. With a little work and fancy salesman ship you can easily raise it’s worth 100x it’s current and sell it for penny. The winner will be revealed within the next week when they receive this fine specimen and take a photo for us to post on the front page.

Thanks again to everyone who left a comment. For what it is worth, I have added each and every person who commented to my friends list in profiles.

Cheers,

National “Post Something Mean & Hurtful on Synth’s Profile” Day

Posted in Uncategorized on September 15th, 200784 Comments »

It’s that time of year again. Summer is ending, school has started, your parents are crack’n down on you. So why the hell not declare today a day where you can insult me, complain to me and basically say whatever you want on my profile without fear of ban.

Instead of taking it out on someone else, you should drag your sorry ass into my profile and bitch at me instead. Call me whatever you want, say whatever you want, insult my profile, have your dog take a leak on your keyboard or *gasp* you can even make fun of LD. But whatever you do, don’t call me your baby’s daddy.

Best insult of the day gets a prize that will be determined tonight. Maybe we will give away a personal possesion of mine.. Like an old wrench with a signature on it. I know everyone needs one of those. If you are sensitive to harsh words, today would not be a good day to check out my profile.

In case you havn’t figured it out yet… If you insult me, add me to your friends list so I have a way to easily track the insults.

Blinded Black Joins FFR’s Growing Widget List!

Posted in Embeddable Widgets on September 13th, 200720 Comments »

Hard work, determination, persistency and a little love from the media are some of the key ingredients that comprise the success of St. Louis-based Blinded Black. And with its SideCho Records debut, Under The Sunrise, the empty fuel tanks, days spent on guitar overdubs and hours spent maintaining a vital online presence have all come to fruition in a succinct recorded package.

With the release of Under The Sunrise, the members of Blinded Black are looking forward to taking their show on the road throughout the nation (though the support from its St. Louis homebase could fuel the act on its own). In addition to the heavy amounts of local press coverage, Blinded Black has been interviewed and played on major alternative rock station KPNT “The Point” 105.7 FM and the band also played the Vans Warped Tour 2006 in St. Louis.

So check out their myspace and you can play the widget here!

FIRESIDE CHAT IS LIVE NOW! JOIN THE RADIO TO LISTEN!

Posted in FFR News, FFR Radio on September 13th, 200718 Comments »

OK… Just come into THE RADIO, and it should start broadcasting automatically. We’ve got an auto-DJ up of FFR music currently, but we’ll switch to the show at 8pm EST (1 hour). Submit questions to Tasselfoot via PM. Asking questions in the radio chat will NOT get them answered. You can also listen in via the profile chat’s radio off/on functionality.

We’ve already got 30+ questions to answer… so get them in quickly. We’ll try and answer every question, but we may run out of time. And we’re answering first come first served.

And to save you all the trouble… Jason is the one with the southern accent.

NOTE!! YOU CAN NOT USE SOME VERSIONS OF INTERNET EXPLORER FOR THE RADIO! Edit: Got a report that IE6.0 works. If you don’t hear anything, try FireFox..

Fireside Radio Chat TONIGHT! 8pm EST

Posted in FFR News, FFR Radio on September 13th, 200724 Comments »

OK Guys… so tonight, JasonKey and I will be on the radio answering questions concerning the future of FFR. Your questions can be about ANYTHING… but if it is something pertaining to you specifically, we likely won’t answer it. We want to try and hit on questions that will help everyone.

I’ll be making another post later tonight before the show with final details on things… like what channel we’ll be on, how to connect, and whatnot.

BUT… the important thing… HOW TO SUBMIT QUESTIONS! All questions can be submitted via PM to me, Tasselfoot, via the forums. This is the link to send a PM. Make sure to put “Fireside Chat Question” as the topic of the PM so that I know that is what your PM is about.

Thanks guys! Make sure to tune in, I’m sure there will be plenty of awesome questions answered tonight. You won’t want to miss it!
