The Final Four – Beginner Skill Token Month Ends

Awesome! My Internet has managed to stay active long enough to post this before it is officially September for us Eastern Standard Time folks. Perhaps my threats of punches and suggested possible dropkicks to the forehead worked. Not only does September mean Professor K’s birthday is a week away, but it also sadly means Beginner Skill Token Month has come to an end – but not without going out with a bang of four additional skill tokens aside from the two I just mentioned. Now, sure, you wiseguys and wisegals have already checked out our handy, dandy skill token list, but just bare with me for the sake of fanfare:

Stepping up to bat first is RaustBlackDragon who hits a double with two skill token songs. Soul Shift on page one of dance holds the key to unlocking Ride of the Black Rider – pass Soul Shift with a combined total of 170 perfects and goods and this majestic song will be yours. The step file for Ride of the Black Rider comes at you courtesy of SulferDragon, who dishes out a difficulty of 4, which will be the highest-rated song out of these four. A second RaustBlackDragon song can be yours by passing the rock song For Who I Am with less than 40 misses. Doing so unlocks Strategem, an onimous and powerful tune stepped by CoolBoyRulez0 for a difficulty level of 2.

If you have a hot whip and you want to drive, then tackling this token shouldn’t be too hard, and with success comes the ambient/chill tune Sine Reality II by Sanxion7. Sanxion7 provides more material for FFR, with a difficulty level 3 file created by blahblahblahblahblahblah (I really, really hope that is the correct number of blahs). Unlocking Sine Reality II requires you, the player, to pass the hip-hop song Freak Out with at least 143 perfects. And last but not least comes the high energy song We Interrupt This Program (AG Flash) by Aerogroove. Mr. Zombie has pieced together a level 2 difficulty, which can be yours just by passing the dance genre song Falling Into You with less than 60 boos (shipping and handling free, no C.O.D.s).

Now you just have to wonder … What “x” month will September be? Will it be Cheesecake Token Month? Wallaby Tossing Month? I do believe September is National Chicken Month. Will there be an FFR Chicken Month? Only time will tell …

Greetings everyone, it’s Professor K stepping in to provide you with news of brand new songs for you to enjoy in Flash Flash Revolution.

First off, if you are a subscriber, None Would Escape by Norsac is now being delivered to your front door. The step file provided to us by Brilliant Dynamite Neon adds a beefy new 10-difficulty chart to the game. With driving bass and drum work the song, which clocks in at just short of 2:30, is as intense as the stepfile. As always, subscriber songs are featured in the funk section, but only if you are a subscriber. It wouldn’t be a much of a subscriber song of the week if it weren’t that way, huh? None Would Escape is featured on page two of the genre.

On the other hand, if you aren’t a subscriber, all is not lost as you can still rejoice to a brand, spanking new song of the week. You can look forward to seeing Never Look Back (ha ha ha!) in the funk section. The public song of the week is brought to us by DJ SBX with a step file fresh off of the presses from MeaCulpa. The song runs 2:37 and is rated a 7 in difficulty and has some great build and breakbeats with steps that match the tune very well.

Now I’m going to clue you in on two more songs added today for your enjoyment. To round up August, a good chunk of beginner skill tokens have been implemented. The first two skill tokens feature very uplifting tunes to get you pumped up for a weekend away from school (we all know you’ll be staying up late tonight). Both of these step files come to us from user BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5 and require good performances on a couple of classic 2nd Style song additions. First up, to unlock Crying Soul by BOUNCE, check out the song This Beat is for the Streets on the first page of the hip-hop section and pass it with a combined total of less than 100 goods and averages. Crying Soul is a 3 difficulty song that features a mix of ambiance, piano work and anthem trance and features some good bouts of 1/8th notes. Boot up the song Computer Dreams in the dance genre and pass it to unlock One More Night (Synthwulf Remix) by none other than Synthwulf. The steps rank in at a difficulty of 4 and feature some yellow note work to accompany the upbeat drumline and vocals.

This Beat is for the Streets and Computer Dreams will throw some 1/8th notes and double key presses at you, but don’t be detoured and you’ll nab the tokens with little effort. Don’t forget – after obtaining a token, you will have to refresh the page for the tokens to appear in the skill token genre.

Stay tuned to Flash Flash Revolution for even more news and content tonight. On a side note, is it possible to punch an Internet Service Provider in the face?

Secrets & Lies are Like Infinite Blue Glass

Posted in Song of the Week, Tokens on August 21st, 200733 Comments »

I have no idea what that means, but I don’t really care. A bit late, but the most recently released skill token is Like Glass by DJ Karbon, of World of Dreams fame. It’s definitely a unique sounding song, classified as Breakbeats. The stepfile is by Ben Speirs. To unlock this song that sounds like glass, pass Seattle’s Finest (Hip-Hop) with 50 or less goods, 40 or less averages, 40 or less misses, and 60 or less boos.

Yesterday’s public SotW is Secrets & Lies by Rushjet1. Rushjet is known for making video game remixes as well as original scores that are 8-bit sounding. Secrets & Lies reminds me of Castlevania, but is an original piece, and as it is not from a VG, it is in Dance2 instead of Arcade. Also I guess a strong case could be made for it being in Misc. Oh well. This file marks the first for highly regarded simfile author DigitalS3r4ph, aka Tsuka. Hopefully we’ll see more work from him in the future. The file is a 9/12 for its 150bpm 16ths with jumps.

There is also a new subscriber SotW in funk if you haven’t seen it yet.

Finally, a personal thank you to Veritas’s Jamie and Will for the wonderful little thank you package they sent me containing chocolates, a few Veritas stickers, and the Veritas EP. Once again, check out their level 5 Black Skulls in Rock as well as checking out their myspace and website.

From a Trisection of the Summer Starry Sky comes a Technostorm Hurricaine of strength -Y!

Posted in Song of the Week, Tokens on August 18th, 200735 Comments »

So, I lost track of time yesterday and forgot to add a new user easy skill token. To make up for that, I’ve added two today. Summer Starry Sky is a very ambient song by TAM, that nearly reminds me of elevator music or hold music on a phone. Very soothing. Stepfile is by jimerax and is a 2. To unlock, Pass Trip to the Moon (Dance) with 80+ Perfects.

Technostorm Hurricaine is our 2nd new user easy skill token of the day. It is a techno song by RaustBlackDragon. No surprise at all that our own resident dragon, SulferDragon, quickly jumped on the opportunity to make this chart. It’s a low 4, IMO. To unlock, get a 250+ combo on RainDrops (Dance).

Public SotW is also on the easier side. Trisection is a Hard Rock remix of some video game song (someone correct me if I’m wrong on this) by Hiroshi Sakimoto. The remix is by Glome. The stepfile is by hi19hi19 and is a 7/12. Many of you will say that this file should be harder… but don’t fear! We do have a v2 in the works that will be much harder. You can find this song in Arcade (yes, I know, I flip flop on this all the time, with the Touhou remix songs in Rock, but I know this is an Arcade remix BEFORE adding it, as opposed to after). If you have enjoyed some of our other recent VG Rock songs, such as The Brain of the Moon or The Dreams of Scarlet, you’ll greatly enjoy Trisection as well.

Subscriber SotW is also up in Funk for testing.

Enjoy,

-Tass

New Flashbulb Token!

The Flashbulb

Did I get your attention? Tonight’s easy skill token is Do Not Sex To This by The Flashbulb. It is a short and sweet song, very different than your normal Flashbulb experience. Personally, I would not sex to it… but, I won’t tell you guys what to do. If you really want to, you have my permission to sex to this. But only once! The file is by 1st time stepfiler L Endorphin L, who also made this most recent batch of token images. To unlock, pass Activity Unbroken (Dance) with 30 or less misses.

Truly yours, unsexing to this,

Whole Bunch of Small Stuff – Profile Chat Update, SotW, New Rock songs, Easy ST.

First off, check out the new profile chat! Yea! This is working off of the same technology as the embedded player chats (Yes, all the myspace embedded players have their own chats!). So, check it out. It’s really swanky and hot looking and awesome. Not to mention, it’ll be much easier for us to moderate!

Yesterday I released the 3rd and 4th song by LoveHateHero into Rock, which had previously been exclusive to their embedded player. They’re upper left of Rock. I have since moved the other rock songs by LoveHateHero and Making April to their appropriate spots throughout the genre. So, enjoy the songs and check out their awesome sites.

Today’s Public SotW is State of Emergency by SynthWulf. I’m not really sure how this happened, but apparently this song became public 1 week ago as opposed to today, and I never noticed. Oh well. Many of you may know this song from Spin It Up. It’s 190bpm and pretty fast paced. It has a bunch of 4-frame jacks in it, so watch out! Difficulty is a 10, because of the 4-framers. Stepfile is by Silver_Brian. You can find it on Page 4 of Misc.

Today’s subscriber SotW is available on Page 2 of Funk. It is Never Look Back by DJ SBX (SymBiotiX). Interesting coincednece that I just spoke with SBX yesterday about getting more of his stuff in game. I do what I can to please the musicians; without them, there wouldn’t be an FFR. Will have a full write up on the song in 3 weeks when it’s public.

Finally… today’s easy Skill Token! 5.1.1. (AG Supercool Mix) is, in fact, a supercool mix of the song 5.1.1. by DJ Nagureo remixed by Aerogroove. The stepfile is a cut of the full song, and is either a hard 2 or an easy 3. This file is MixMasterLar’s 1st file to get into the game, after lots and lots of failed submissions and re-submits. He proves the power of dedication, in that if you work hard and keep at it, you can get a file into the game. To unlock, Pass Dance 2 This (Dance1) with 20 or less boos.

Hope that wasn’t too much information for all of you…

Halcyon – Newest Breed of Pokemon! Add it to your DnB!

Posted in Tokens on August 9th, 200753 Comments »

So Drugstore and I were discussing what we could use for the newest of our easy skill token songs, Pokemon DnB (by cornandbeans.. omg no {}!!), and we decided that Halcyon sounded like it could be a species of pokemon. Not to mention… one of the definitions of Halcyon is a mythical bird. So… we bring up Pokemon #653, HALCYON! It is the offspring of a Moltress and a Zapdos. It can evolve into a Halcyon-on-on (thanks to Chardish for the pun/reference). Basically, we put way too much effort and thought into this… but, it’s pretty damn amusing.

Pokemon DnB is exactly that… a light Drum n Bass song based off of the Pokemon theme song. I find the ending to be especially LOL. Stepfile is by Silver_Brian and it is a 3 in difficulty. Mostly 4th notes, few 8th note triplets at the end and a few 8th gallops in the middle. As said, you have to play Halcyon to unlock… Pass it with 20 or less averages to unlock Pokemon DnB. Halcyon is in Dance.

Enjoy, good night, and hope everyone who was in the Subscriber Chat tonight (we maxed out at over 60 people in there at one time) had a good time and got a decent preview of what 3rd style will be.

PS – All kinds of other big news going on throughout the site… but that is news for another day.

Adminconf knows why …

Day Late… but don’t TELL anyone. New User ST #3

Posted in Flash Flash Revolution, Tokens on August 7th, 200741 Comments »

It is only fitting that we have an easy classical song for our ONE easy classical song. Tell is a remix of Rossini’s William Tell Overture done by Kyle Ward (under alias Symphonius) for In The Groove. I’m sure you all will be quite familiar with the tune. The stepfile is by dore, and is understepped. I accepted this file under the condition that dore make a Tell v2 that is properly stepped or overstepped. So, to get this fun song, Professor Tass advises you to play Moonlight Sonata and get at least 100 perfects.

And that will be my first and only attempt at copying Kwik’s style of writing. I’ll admit… I failed miserably.
