ATTN: Active FFR Players/Community
There has been a dishearteningly low response with regards to the new public judgment system. This is the kind of thing that can really change how FFR works for the better, and it's something that really can get the community involved. Everyone needs to take the time to look at all of the content and give their legitimate opinion on their thoughts of the files that have been put in place. Your word actually has some weight now, and you're doing yourself and the website a disservice but not using that bit of weight you have to help determine how content can get into the game.
For those of you that actually have taken the time to go through the files and content, good for you - keep up the good work and keep making your thoughts known. For those of you that have not, take the time to read the thread linked above to figure out how you can help out, and ask any questions that you might have. Your opinion actually matters, and as has been reiterated a few times now: you have the power to actually help choose content. Do not worry about the past batches and their pacing -- focus on making a difference where you can and help make a difference where you actually have the ability. Go here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=143797 -- after you've read through that, go here: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...play.php?f=101 ...and do your part! |

This system is several years too late.

Re: ATTN: Active FFR Players/Community
And that was unfortunately beyond the scope of control that staff had compared to now. Rather than dwelling on the past, people should be helping to build this system to be useful.
But I digress and will leave with this point: you guys have something that could be beneficial if you're willing to work for it. That's all. Make of that what you will. |

Re: ATTN: Active FFR Players/Community
First build up the user base and then complain about lack of community participation
Adding more files to the game isnt going bring more people. There's an over saturation of files in game if anything we need to get rid of files before we even think about adding more in.

i think the issues at hand are a little bit separate, because i don't deny at all that the song base is super inflated right now

Re: ATTN: Active FFR Players/Community
I don't really care either way. I have two files to submit that were finished months ago and after that I'm done

I'm slowly (but happily) coming back to FFR, I will check this judgement system later when I get home. |

Re: ATTN: Active FFR Players/Community
I don't think most users are aware of how much more is available to them compared to before:
- Judging has been structured to be more interactive. Previously users had almost no control over their submissions, and now there's a rating appeal and conditional queue process which allows users to communicate with judges. Many files in conditional queue still await a response from the original stepartist. - Many obsolete methods used in the Batch System have been removed, and I've put in a lot of effort to set up a Search Engine to make information more accessible to stepartists. Look at any single batch page on the Batch Search Engine site and you'll see the most up-to-date information on your current submissions (and mention anything that may look off -- which can be changed). - The Weekly Batch Updates have shown that we have made considerable progress. What makes it seem like there is a halt is that we're currently dealing with larger batches in November/December 2014, the Official Tournament Batch, and the Hard Songs Batch. The batches after January/February 2015 you'll notice are considerably smaller, and finishing the four batches than only have ~15 files isn't any better than saying we finished a batch with over 60 files -- it's just that "there are four batches" instead of one. Our GM staff has put their efforts into making information more accessible and file submissions more interactive with users. The user community also needs to do its part. If anyone here is concerned about a large backlog of files, then I ask that those people contribute to finishing it up.

most people don't know how to judge files or aren't enthusiastic about it.

You don't need to try to mimic the style of judging you see the batch notes do. No, not at all. This is simply: you play the file and then say what you liked about it and maybe even say what parts felt off if you REALLY want to go deeper You can be super analytical if you so choose to. Or you can just give a tiny blurb about the file you played. And by tiny blurb, I don't mean just one word or a very small sentence, dohoho |

Reading these threads is also important as it shows how the public judgment process works. Think of how you'd put together a rough draft. Judges themselves have "rough drafts" of their reviews before having the final version of the review posted up. For users, it's the same thing -- like Charu mentioned, put down your thoughts after playing the file. This public system is structured in a way that your voice will be heard. These resources are not meant to make things more difficult for users. Users are welcome to ask questions and are encouraged to be interactive. This shouldn't be treated like Facebook where people go on ranting about political issues for hours with nothing productive coming out. You all have a voice. |

I would but I only play Stepmania these days and am not too interested in judging files for a game I don't even play...

Re: ATTN: Active FFR Players/Community
Just nitpicking here but I feel like the slew of new threads regarding different Judgment Systems for different batches and different Judgment Systems for different reviewer titles in those same batches with the added thread for the new website that's being used for the Batch Search Engine is a bit overwhelming for me and I am kind of lost on what I should be up to date on, what I shouldn't pay attention to, and what I am/am not allowed to do.
I still don't even know the purpose of why stepartists were given backend access to the Batch Search Engine website besides being able to update it instantly when they submit something to batch. Like, is there any other purpose other than that? Again, it's overwhelming and confusing if you're new to the whole thing, given the amount that's been changed. Would appreciate tl;dr's of which threads apply to which people at the beginning of said threads so I don't need to read through 10,000 words of guidelines. (No offense Dossar you're doing a really good job with it, it's just all very confusing for someone that's never really been involved in it. That being said, the more confusing it is for people who have never been involved before or generally do not know how batch works, the less likely you're going to have random community members contributing to it if it doesn't directly involve them. And since only a small snippet of people are directly involved with batch, yeah.) Last edited by gold stinger; 02-16-2016 at 03:43 PM.. |
