Heard there's still some confusion on D8. It's still a little bit of a work in progress because we went from only having 7 people to 16 so it kinda changes things up a bit. Everyone does still need to play, non submits will be dropped. I'll get back to you on exact elims soon.

We're not doing elims in the beginning rounds for D8, the plan was for the first 3 to be "qualifiers" that were cumulative then start elims after the first 3. Now with 16 I think 2 round is better to keep everything split well.

TSR's suggestion is also cumulative for the first two rounds, it eliminates the bottom two at the end of the second round. It looks pretty clean to me and lines up top 8 with the other divisions as opposed to a round earlier.

Regardless I'm just hoping something is solidified soon, I'm out of state and my time to actually play this week is going to be cut extremely short. Knowing what's going on with the structure would be helpful in gauging what's relatively safe and what isn't.

Question. If multiple people AAA a file, since they have the same score, is it considered a tie for that song, or are the people who AAAed stilled ranked separately based on their Amazing:Perfect ratio? Idk since this is my first tourney

All that matters is whether you are above the elimination line, and AAAs keep you safe regardless.

Just passing by to say that both of these bolded statements are incorrect information in the context of official tournaments and have been traditionally incorrect for quite some time.

Clarification might need to be provided for division 7 players because there may still be ambiguity about how that's going to work due to the division expansion (previously, D7 players used to unlock the older support tokens/event tokens simply by involuntary placements) and vRofl may still be up in the air. I'm not the one to answer that, though.

However, for division 6 and lower - if a tie occurs on a round where prizes are set to occur (i.e. round 5 and on) that extends beyond the cutoff, players involved with extending the cutoff due to a tie will have to play another song. This has occurred since the 6th official FFR tournament (I would know, considering I had to play do i smile? against samurai7694 in a failed attempt to get to the finals), which was run by the same person running the tournament now.

This also includes AAA or die situations as well (this occurred in the 10th official tournament in D7 on round 6, forcing players to play CirnoRHTL to break the AAA tie on Rengoku-Purgatorium-).
