Well you're missing the point of this official tourney. It is NOT expected for a player to AAA/bf a song. You're supposed to be working hard at getting to the top.

Sure there are some people who manage to constantly obtain good scores, but that does not set the assumption that tourney songs are supposed to be AAAed on command, or even at all. It's a challenge, yes.

So these AAA/bf or die rounds D4 and up have had...Just flukes and don't normally happen, right?

Yes. They're NOT supposed to happen. But it's not easy to line up every song in an even difficulty gradient. Turns out that the ordering was far from perfect this time.

I've gotten a lot better since the start of this tourny (got my first 9 AAA woot!), I hope it's enough for top 8, I'm flattered Cammy listed me in the top 4. gl turbo, I'll see you next round
