I already have v2s made of RATO, DP, and many other old legacy files. Several versions of each, usually.
Just not enough submission slots and other files I'd much rather submit over them, so I've been saving them for a rainy day. I'll get around to it eventually if nobody else does.

We really need four categories instead of the current system (which only has the first 3):

1. Public files (counts for public level ranks, playable)
2. Secret/purchased files (counts for public level ranks, but has to be unlocked so not playable by new/guest accounts)
3. Token files (counts for token level ranks but not public level ranks, has to be unlocked)
4. Legacy files (shit tier Tass-era files such as RATO, DP, Crowdpleaser as well as the old offsync legacy stuff goes here. Does not count for any level rank, playable by anyone who is logged in but not by guest accounts)

Making the distinction like this, where the legacy files are hidden from guest accounts and very clearly left in the game just for novelty/historical purposes, is needed badly.

This was a really popular opinion back when they were debating what to do with the current legacy files but they ended up just not doing anything.

They did get their own genre and removed from public levelranks, so it's not fair to say nothing was done. But I think it's still a popular opinion that even more should be done with regards to making them not "count" and also expanding the definition of Legacy to include not only the old blue files, but also some blatantly offsync/bad old files from the Tass era (Improvisation et Chien comes to mind, for example >_<).

I voted yes but after thinking about it instead of just "YESYESYES" because I want to play Miku... I say no.

Tokens should be a reward, like hi19 said something worth working for, not just a dump for bad files. Miku (as a song, especially) is definitely a reward and has a difficulty index that I think is appropriate for the requirement. I'd much rather be given Miku for a really hard AAA as opposed to RATO because RATO sucks. It's just cetaka's file on shuffle with like 400 random notes added and/or turned into jacks.

And while we're at it, replace Death Piano with a file that you know, is actually on-sync, cause fuck that file too.

The ending 32nd trill in Death Piano is actually offsync. It's slightly slower than 170 BPM 32nds.

ok so let's talk about how Freedom Dive is still a token because it's such an amazing song and how it should switch places with death piano.

In all seriousness, I would be ok with moving RATO to legacy files if we're to stop going by the 'blue note syndome exclusive' file rules, but then again, I feel like that's the stubbornness within me being unable to even comprehend a song so hard, and switching the song to token and replace it with another song doesn't really seem to justify it because the song has been playable all this time, and is consistent in difficulty rather than being god shit tier like Crowdpleaser or party4u.

I find this funny because when Tokens were being given out for the FFR AAAdvent drawing (Not the event), I picked Freedom Dive even though I had no idea that
A: You can't get it public anymore
and
B: It was actually a good song

keep RATO in because 1. the frames are as good as they can get if memory serves, 2. having only AAAable files in public would make avrank completely meaningless (as opposed to mostly), and 3. it's fun watching people cry about it
