Songs of the Week (May 25th, 2014)
Sorry about the late release, guys. Was planning on doing this last night, but after moving I was pretty beat.
Note: with the exception of SHI☆O☆KA☆RA☆, these files were not rated by anyone approved to put difficulties, so I just took a shot at them. Feel free to suggest different ratings if you feel like they're necessary, because I tend to be very hit or miss (see: Gourmet Na Aitsu's initial rating, oops). Cracknight Musician: Nero's Day at Disneyland Step Artist: DossarLX ODI Song Genre: Purchased [1,000] Difficulty: 17 Song Length: 1:31 Bird Sprite Musician: Celas Step Artist: DarkZtar Song Genre: Dance 2 Difficulty: 65 Song Length: 2:03 SHI☆O☆KA☆RA☆ Musician: Naganuma & Kota Step Artist: bmah Song Genre: Dance 2 Difficulty: 70 Song Length: 2:04 o'er the flood Musician: goreshit Step Artist: VisD Song Genre: Misc Difficulty: 75 87 (thanks choof !) Don't know much about file ratings, but o'er the flood was a faceroll AAA so probably easier then 87.

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25th, 2014)
To be honest its probably a 77, or close to it. its not impossible but not easy either(unless you are D7)

Maybe it's just me but Bird Sprite fairs fairly tough for a 65. It should at least be in FMO range. I personally found it harder than Shiokara, but I may just be shit at the file.

I count 65 as FMO(idc Novo Mundo was FMO before the switch and a 65)

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25th, 2014)
Cracknight was your average Dossar + NDAD chart, pretty fun with the jumps in the last half however.
Bird Sprite felt decent as a VC/FMO jumpstream file, nothing really standing out here. What makes SHIOKARA the best of this week's releases (yes, I said it) is the interesting yet catchy song choice, and 192nds to highlight the drones. The Skeletor-ish ending gave me 2g sightread, what a troll. Nice job with what I thought would be an average JaPaN file, bmah. o'er the flood has some nasty 32nd rolls. A lot of them begin and end with jumps, which make for some annoying patterns. Preview looks quite enjoyable. |

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25th, 2014)
I have absolutely no idea what the hell the color arrows every measure in o'er the flood were going to, but they made it really hard to read.
Pretty, though. EDIT- lmfao that minijack in Bird Sprite, it completely ruins the file for me conceptually. It's like a solid 8/10 enjoyable file with nice patterns and a good song, and a single instance of -1/10 awkward pattern that is literally all I am ever going to mentally associate with the file. Sad.

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25th, 2014)
SHIOKARA's name display is broken in the level loading screen on R3, might fix that
EDIT- the file itself is actually way less bmah than I expected. Yeah the difficulty spikes are pretty turbo-bmah-hard and probably a little overdone... But the rest of the patterns are distinctly non-bmah and extremely flowing. I liked it. I'd probably have put that 1-handed grace note on to 2-hands like the one after the first roll, but besides that... damn fun patterns. Also if anyone asks how color arrows should be used, this should be given as the example. It makes so much sense and didn't fuck up the readability that much, just really nicely used.

Re: Songs of the Week (May 25th, 2014)
That missing white arrow in SHIOKARA around 670 combo is going to bother the fuck out of me now that I noticed it...
EDIT- as for difficulties, Bird Sprite could possibly go up. Dense as fuc, dat minijack, etc. Don't think o'er the flood is too far off the mark, seems mid70 to me...

edit: you probably need to listen to the whole track not just the cut made for ffr the colors in o'er the flood are white, cyan(really just blue, but cyan to differentiate from all the 8ths otherwise in the chart), and green, which correspond to childhood, adulthood, and old-age, respectively (for example white symbolizes purity in childhood; blue and green are analogous with their own colors) Last edited by ilikexd; 05-25-2014 at 11:23 PM.. |
