I still have a PS2, but I'm using it to finish that dang million roses level in We Love Katamari.

(thinking of Terranigma, Actraiser, Chrono Trigger, even Breath of Fire II from Capcom to name a few)

Just recently bought back FFXII and a broken Prince of Persia:The Two Thrones. I'm playing FF like crazy these days. I'm still looking for Grandia II though (anybody know if it's still available?). I've got another PS2 in backup from my girlfriend, so I'm hoping mine will last for many years from now. Either way, I've been backing up quite a good list of roms now.

Btw, Shadow of the Colossus anybody?
(best. game. eveeerrrr.)
Sounds like you're a big RPG fan. Check out The Legend of Dragoon on the PSX if you haven't already, that's my all time favorite RPG.
As for Grandia II, I got lucky and snagged a copy at a pawn shop for $5 but yeah it's really tough to find. It goes for about $21 complete on eBay if you're willing to pay that much... disc-only listings go for as cheap as $10. If you have a Dreamcast, the Dreamcast version is a little bit cheaper. The first Grandia on the PSX is even rarer, I think I paid over $30 for that one.

Dart, Haschel and Lavitz is ~da dream team~ in that game.

Dragoon was an excellent game. I also enjoyed Tales of Destiny II quite a bit.

I usually replace Lavitz with Rose, for some reason he can't deal as much damage when I'm playing.

I'd love to have Tales of Destiny but that game is super rare. I might be getting Threads of Fate from a friend soon, though...

I don't think I've EVER heard anyone claim their favourite game to be Legend of Dragoon before. That's not a bash, I loved that game. Just soooo unexpected lol.

I wish I never sold my copy of Suikoden II.

I believe Tales of Destiny value can go over 80 bucks by now, and that's talking mint condition. I heard many good words on the Tales series, I think my youth buddy had a ToD II copy which he gave in exchange for some other crap. Shame, really. Never heard of The Legend of Dragoon until now.

Might be because I never really had the chance to venture into other consoles, only when we were visiting or when I was at my friends' house. Which were only my friends because they had an unjustifiable amount of games or since they had the only trampoline in the area. In sum, I was loaning my childhood.

Well, now that the gaming industry is preparing for the next-gen, I think it is safe to assume the accessibility of everything is going to drop significantly. Save it while it last. It's sad really. *tears*

Yep. Actually, it was the first RPG I ever played. One of my friends bought it at launch in 2000 and brought it to my house to play. I was hooked instantly. I know most people think of FF7, Chrono Cross or Tales of Destiny when they think of their favorite PSX RPGs, but I didn't get my hands on those games until years later. Actually, I still haven't played ToD.

And then Suikoden II... holy mother, that game is stupidly rare. Like, I'm not even going to try to get a copy of that game, ever. I'll stick with emulators for games that are that rare.

For shits and giggles here's my PS2 game list:

Alien Hominid
Burnout: Dominator
Burnout: Revenge
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
Crash: Mind Over Mutant
Crash Nitro Kart
Crash Tag Team Racing
Crash of the Titans
Crash Twinsanity
Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud 2
Devil May Cry
Devil May Cry 2
Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition
Dragon Rage
Eternal Ring
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XII
Grandia II
Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec
Grand Theft Auto III
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
.hack//INFECTION

Heatseeker
Jeremy McGrath's Supercross World
Jet X2O
Katamari Damacy
La Pucelle Tactics
Magna Carta
Marc Ecko's Getting Up
Maximo: Ghosts to Glory
Maximo vs. Army of Zin
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Tony Hawk's Underground
Twisted Metal: Black
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue
Ultimate Board Game Collection
Warriors of Might and Magic
Wipeout Fusion
World Series of Poker

Plus a few games that are loaned out to my sister right now, I can't remember the names of them.
Yes, I'm aware I don't own any of the Kingdom Hearts games. *sigh* I used to have KH2 a long time ago but I traded it to a friend for his copy of Pokemon: Fire Red version. :P
