I was going to give a serious reply earlier, sorry. I could have sworn legal issues were huge on those :/

I was under the impression widget songs were only songs we had FFR permission for as well? Was I mistaken?

I didn't know about the DrugstoreCowboy thing either, I thought there were just legal issues. :P My bad!

A lot of the permissions were through DrugstoreCowboy, and those were called into question when he peaced out from FFR.
I don't think the widgets themselves had legal issues, merely that the groups we had widgets for were largely DrugstoreCowboy permissions.

That doesn't make any sense. If he's gotten permission for FFR, he's gotten permission. Unless he deliberately went around telling all of the artists to revoke the permission, we should still have permission. Permission.

He did. Or at least, he threatened to.
I'm not 100% sure how it wound up, you'd have to ask Synth or DC about that to be sure, I've only heard his side of the story.



Anyway so I just had a nice long chat with Kayla. Then had a brief talk with Velocity on Skype.
It was very enlightening. I've determined that some people are just too set in their beliefs to ever believe they did anything wrong.
These kinds of people will never learn, never improve, keep making the same mistakes, be baffled when the same results happen, then just blame other people for their failures.

This community will never improve if those at the top don't want to.

*sigh* I guess I have to give up and just watch the community kill itself from the top down.

We could always "tell a friend" about this site and get them to join. If they do, maybe they could "tell a friend" as well, and we could have a Pay It Forward thing going on here. Though maybe it wont end up how we expect it to.

This was done a while ago. It was actually fairly successful.
Getting referrals became a competition in itself. As a rule, people like filling up bars and/or competing to have the highest number.

Bingo. Not sure how I feel about it though.

I think people will start drawing into the site once we finish redesigning things and can bring a new codebase into the site. Working with the existing FFR code is terrifying. We're slowly getting the new one down to a science though and it's gonna be awesome when it's complete.
