Re: New Search Engine?
Why would we need a new search engine? We already have google.

Re: New Search Engine?
Why are you so upset? Can no body on this site respond to a comment they dont like without being angry?

Re: New Search Engine?
Knowing that Wolfram is slowly trying to take over the world...
I like this though, it does integrals and plots things and solves equations and knows specific things. It won't replace Google or other search engines that use the web as a resource.

Re: New Search Engine?
it's interesting, sorta cluttered. Says a lot about math on the first page under the bloaty search box. I'll give it a try for a few minutes... tell ya how much i don't approve of it
edit: OH it's a big frigging calculator with neat tidbits of info if you enter a date! no wonder there's so much math there, good for all the mathletes this worlds needs. Ya think they'll port this to an app? edit edit: it's ok.... won't be using it as I'm not that big for math on the internet.

Re: New Search Engine?
Again, this is not a search engine, this is a language parser built on top of Mathematica that will search through hand-picked databases for specific kinds of information as well as formating it the way you request. Google, however, takes your request and returns the websites it thinks are the most likely to have the information you need.

Re: New Search Engine?
That's extremely cool for math reference, nice. Wow...I think it owns my TI-89. The format for inputting stuff like integrals is so lenient.

Re: New Search Engine?
Pretty soon nobody will have to go to school but will have to have the internet so that basic skills such as math can be done.
Pretty soon no one will need to "know" anything because the internet will "know". |

Re: New Search Engine?
I'd say that statement is generally correct about the direction of our sources of knowledge. But like...even though we have calculators to do so much stuff for us, we still find ourselves learning and working with 200-year-old math theorems and such in the 21st century.

Re: New Search Engine?
It's a nice calculator.
There was another search engine that used to show you everything instead of hyperlinks, but I forgot what it is because it sank so fast. |

Re: New Search Engine?
You guys suck . It's much more than a "Mathematica".
EDIT: Actually, in a broad sense, I suppose it is a Mathematica. It still makes for a nice Firefox toolbar though. How about this: http://www66.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=RGB+41+235+123 or this: http://www66.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=H3PO4 maybe this: http://www66.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=ATATCGATCA or: http://www66.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CH2CH2OCOCH3 :l http://www66.wolframalpha.com/input/...US+demographic Last edited by Kekeb; 05-28-2009 at 05:29 PM.. |
