AAA's , FC's , and such
Hi, so recently I've been going back to the easier difficulty songs to improve my rank and get some fc's under my belt. maybe some AAA's while I'm at it, but I was wondering if anyone has noticed that some songs are just downright harder to AAA? Does it have something to do with the stepfiles? And how do you guys adjust to these songs? I can fairly consistently FC songs up to 8 or 9 difficulty but have trouble AAAing even the easiest of songs sometimes. Any thoughts?

From what others have told me in the past, easier songs are harder to AAA because there isnt much in them to keep your attention. Just pace yourself.

Practiceis the answer. Shocking, isn't it?
You could try whoring a song until you get the AAA.

Whoring a song doesnt work for everyone. Sometimes people get more and more frustrated at a song.
I got like 10 aaa's in a day by using the random feature so i got to play easy songs i would have never played without it. You could try that. Maybe adjust your speed mod also are you playing one hand, spread, index?

Songs like Story of the Snowman and Sunshine Girl... I AAAd by luck. lol. I think Ascii Art Core is easier to AAA than SSSG. =/

Re: AAA's , FC's , and such
Most of the easier level songs are from a LONG time ago, so they're offbeat. That's why they're harder to AAA.

Just try them once a day or so until you get them. AAAing those really easy songs is sometimes really hard because you are half falling asleep while you play them. Just play other stuff in between.

Like SkellyBones is easy.. but freakin' hard to AAA.
In the middle of the song, a freakin' message saying OFFBEAT TIME! appears, and everything goes freakin' offbeat. Plus a stupid background + light blue background + blue notes = horrifying. |

I play with 1.75 speed , and i guess I'd be considered a spread player, even though i still use the arrow keys, which are close together. I realize that the obvious answer to everything is practice, but i thought maybe something like playing without sound or something like that might be helpful with the songs that are offbeat, going only by your own rhythm.

Re: AAA's , FC's , and such
I have some VC AAAs under my belt, like Klung Kung, Pretty Green Onions, Splash Beats, etc... all levels with only 40 or so AAAs at most. They all have a fair amount of people who have played too.
But I swear, my most prized AAA is Chariot. I put more time and effort into AAAing that than any other level I've AAAed. The thing is, it's only Challenging. Something like 100 people have AAAed it. So I know what you mean, vexic, some songs are just harder to AAA even though they're easier songs to play. It definitely has to do with how the stepfiles are written. Also, like Mookage suggested, you might want to vary the difficulty of levels you play throughout the day. I never sit and play one narrow range of difficulty all day. Playing without sound may help as well. |

Re: AAA's , FC's , and such
Synthlight's stepfiles are old and off-beat. Don't kill yourself for not AAAing those.
Easy songs can be difficult sometimes because you're in rhythm to a 8th 140 BPM stream and suddenly a small 16th beat pops in and it's just surprising to see the faintest 'hard' thing in the song, and it can catch you off your guard and you get a good and you boo out and scream at the top of your lungs and want to throw your computer out the window. Or try again knowing it's there. |
