Re: Haha I learned how to solve a rubik's cube on friday :)
Woah bump much?
Anyway, I haven't done it very much anymore, my time is about 1 minute more or less every time. Usually it's to show off to people who have no idea how to do it =) |

Re: Haha I learned how to solve a rubik's cube on friday :)
I can solve one in 1:09
by 1:09 i mean 1 day and 9 hours... trying all the possible moves that I can, seeing as I don't know how to solve a rubiks cube. =(

Good job, now have at one of these:
My current time on it is still a little over 4 minutes, hoping to achieve a sub-4 minute time.

Re: Haha I learned how to solve a rubik's cube on friday :)
As soon as I discovered that the "skill" in solving rubix cubes was in memorizing a number of sequences that leave everything exactly how it was except for one change, I completely lost interest in solving rubix cubes.

That is why blindfold solving is more interesting Speedsolving is brainless and takes no skill.

True, but I still find satisfaction in how amazing people think it is when you 'do' solve it, blindfolded or no.

Re: Haha I learned how to solve a rubik's cube on friday :)
My friend kept trying to teach me some odd pattern he uses but I never caught on. The only thing I figured out was that the center cube on each side never moves. And that sure as hell didn't help me. They just became uninteresting.

Re: Haha I learned how to solve a rubik's cube on friday :)
It helps you because you know where every other piece should go. If you have a corner with red white and blue on it, then it goes in the spot between the red, white, and blue center pieces.

Just practice the finger movements like for an up turn, flick your index finger. Just keep practicing too :]

Re: Haha I learned how to solve a rubik's cube on friday :)
The layer by layer method, I assume at least, is how most people learn to solve their first Rubik's Cube. It was how I learned, and is a basic, easy to follow sequence.
I'm trying to get a handle on the Fredrich method of solving a Rubik's Cube. This means that while you're solving the first side, after you have to cross, you get the corners in place as well as the frist 2 layers. All in all, it's the best method I've seen that doesn't take too much memorization. Try that one out for speedsolving. To Mr. Rubix, if you come back into this thread, that's my question to you. What method do you use when speedsoving and isn't there a whole different set of algorithms when solving blindfolded? If you see this, I'd like to know. -o24
