the reason we were created by God is to be a mirror of His image. We were given power over all the Earth to represent that God has power over everything. In that manner, we should be good and just, and God is good and just. This is why we strive to become good, as God is good and we were created to be like Him. It is not religion, it is only a calling from the father, whom we wish to be like. We want to follow in His footsteps. As the Father's children, should that be motivation enough?

uhm I believe it's easier, not because we know we're being acknowledged, but because of the Holy Spirit at work in us, pushing us to follow God to do what's right. It's also easier to fight temptation as the Holy Spirit gives us the power to do so. Personal motivation seems like a somewhat selfish reason to do good
