Default The new "Vivid Arrows", what do think about them?

I personally like that there are now colored arrows. I can see the notes better and determine what kind of steps they are. But I like the La Luna steps better. I liked them just red and blue. I got kind of wide eyed when I played Contradistinction. I didn't really like the light yellow steps. What do you all think?

*EDIT SYNTHLIGHT* -- Arrow colors were shifted by accident yesterday. The arrow color was pushed 1 arrow down which screwed everything up. It should be fine now.

I think they need some work... the colors don't actually correspond to the beat or anything it seems. At least in la luna caida, the colors seemed more or less random

I can't wait for the arrows to appear in the Classical songs, so I can see what the hell I'm trying to hit.

They kick ass. It's much easier to tell how fast you need to hit each arrow

I've only tried Contradistinction because I'm not very good...and personally I don't like them at all . Hopefully it's just because of the song.

Well, at first I got excited...arrows that tell the beats, just like in DDR! But Alt's right, they don't even seem to correspond with the speed. I mean it's great for telling the arrows apart, but that's about it.

They do look cool, though.

I feel the exact same way about this as Kilga.

Still, though, I am probably going to have to wait until the speed mods in R2 to be able to do decently at any of the harder songs.

Good feature, but as altairian says colors should correspond to 4th, 8th, 16th, etc.

Yellow arrows are not bad for me.

Eh, I just played Contradistinction, and thought they kind of messed up the experience a bit. They work in DDR (although I don't "use" them), but for FFR I druther see just the blue.

I dont like the new arrows, but I have no choice. I used to be able to tell what each beat was(I'm good at the beat thing) but now its all messed up and half the beats they colored are incorrect, not to mention the multiple colors(specifically yellow) are harder to see.

The yellow ones are hard to see. They would be hard to see on songs like FF7. They're pretty cool, but I think it's better with just the blue. It would be mad hard to play with the harder songs. But I think it would be good for the inexperienced.

i think it makes the game more challenging, if the colors aren't done for specific beats, but as a way to make easy stepfiles harder...

Another way to throw off the mind, you know.

I am not sure if that is the real intention of the colors, but it could be an awesome use for them

These are not vivid arrows, these are note arrows (that don't really go along with the notes.) The way vivid arrows work, each note in the measure is assigned a different color and they rotate in sequence.
For example, 4 beats might be:

1 - Red
2 - Green
3 - Blue
4 - Purple

And the way it works, all the 4th notes end up being the same color ~when they hit the bar~ (because the colors are changing), all the 8th notes end up being the same color, etc.

Hope I made sense.

Hmm, I played the songs on this computer and nothing seemed different, interesting.

no chardish...vivid arrows (ddr arrows) have colors that correspond to the beat too. the colors just aren't as clear as note arrows.

But they cycle through different colors. Let's say the sequence is:

blue for a quarter
red for an eighth
yellow for a sixteenth

When the quarter notes are blue, the other two are like that also. BUT, when the quarters cycle to red, the eighths cycle to yellow and the sixteenths cycle to blue. Basically, it takes the arrows 4 beats to cycle to their original colors, and they're off-sync with each other.

i say (just like with the direction of flowing arrows) you are able to choose a color of what color arrow you want to use...in FFR everything is too fast to be worrying about beats and beats, you have to learn yourself the timing which comes with practice...colored arrows will make you hesitate

Like i said make it so you can choose your arrow color

Ok, for those of you who didn't notice, the arrow color was shifted one arrow down.. Which made the colors seem random. Right now they DO match the color of each stepfile if you were to play the song in stepmania.

So again, they are definately not random. 1/4 1/8 1/16 (red, blue, yellow) are working just find.

Cheers,

Synthlight
