Erm, goldfish lay eggs. They don't get pregnant.

Yes, it does. Under normal conditions the quack is heard on open water, maybe surrounded by trees. Trees/leaves are very good echo suppressors, and so one does not hear the echo. Inside of an enclosure, say, a barn, the quack will echo just like any other sound.
