Angry Ow...?

Today I got my arm x-rayed. I landed on my arm while skateboarding, and my arm has been sore, but didn't hurt extremely. The nurse at the urgent care center said that I have a kind of fracture called the "greenstick" fracture. This fracture resembles a branch: take a green branch and bend it. It doesn't break. Well, that's what happened to my arm. The bone is bent, but it didn't break.

Like this:

Now I have to wear a splint and brace (I'm not right now because it severely slows down my typing). It doesn't really hurt; in fact, I spent 2 days at school without knowing about it (I even played at a 1 1/2 hour long orchestra rehearsal, but I think I aggravated it). The worst thing is, it takes a couple of weeks to heal, and I have an orchestra concert next week! This one is special because the conducter hired professional recorders to make a CD of the concert (we get to play Pirates of the Carribean! fun piece). But since I play the double bass, I can't use my hand for playing the notes on the fingerboard.
Point is, my hand is fractured, but doesn't hurt, so now I can't do certain things.

If you read all of that, then gimme some feedback. I like to stuff my stories with all kinds of goodies ().

That sucks that you can't play in the concert especially if it's as important as it sounds.
Sorry man

Yea, it sucks. I'm one of the most valued bassists of the conducter, so she was really hoping I could play. But she understands why I can't.

Edit: Wow, that makes me feel better. That's kind of stupid though... Why did you jump off a 12-stair? Skateboarding?

I actually haven't broken any bones, but my sister did once by failing to backfilp off a swingset (kinda pathetic...)

I hope you get better to play in the orchestra (I'd know, I'm a good violinist). Too bad that you can't get in that recording...

Ouch man, I hope you get better. I missed a very special concert late last year because I tore a muscle in my back. I am also a bass player and I know how it gets. Out of curiosity is it the arranged version of Pirates or is it a real version?

HAH! I so read that as lamesauce, which made me laugh.

Then I realized you weren't as witty as I thought and now I'm disappointed in you.

damn dude, that sucks!

in 5th grade, i was playing basketball and i went to catch the rebound but the ball hit directly on my right thumb and hurt like hell. told my teacher about it and all she did was give me ice

i went to the doctors after school and it turns out i chipped the tip of my thumb bone which stopped the break and only caused a fracture
had to wear a damn splint for a few weeks

No, you're a skater, and you don't play an instrument. I'm not a full on skater. I like to try a lot of different things (besides drugs and the like).

About 3 years ago I broke my collar bone while playing hockey.

It was kind of funny because since it broke all the way through, I just had to wear a brace for six weeks. My friend on the other hand, had a little chip in his collar bone (Hockey as well =D) and had to wear a very tight sling for six weeks as well. Mine was better because I could move my elbow up to level with my head and anywhere else below. Any higher and it would then start hurting.

Ouch. One time (and I felt really stupid for this), I was running in some grass and was headed toward my driveway while playing tag. In the grass there was this rock about the size of a tennis ball stuck in the ground, about 1 1/2 feet from the driveway. I tripped on it, fell on the concrete, and flattened my collarbone. Slightly. It didn't hurt bad enough to take it to the doctor, but I have some permanent damage. One part of my collarbone is flattened (I have pliable bones!) compared to the other side. And now, with that arm, I can pop my collarbone out of place by just raising my arm so my elbow is above my head.

Damn, that sucks since you can't play in the orchestra. Do they have a substitute for you?

Anyways, I once fractured my wrist while my phys ed teacher threw a huge ball and we were forced to catch it. Apparently it broke for a second then snapped itself back in place. We stopped playing that game after. It sucks since I couldn't play for my soccer team, especially that I'm the only goalkeeper there.

No, there is no substitute.

And that's wierd! It broke then went back into place? That hurts!

Yeah, that's what my doctor said after my X-ray. I didn't even know I fractured it until the next day when it was all swollen. I had to ride my bike home one-handed, and I was young(er) and almost didn't know how properly.

That's dangerous.

The same with mine: I didn't even know anything was serious when it happened. The nurse said, "A lot of kids freak out, like 'I broke a bone!' when there is hardly anything wrong with them. Now, we can hardly get you to complain!" (That was when they were putting pressure on different parts of my wrist to see where it hurts.)

I have been lucky, I have yet to break any bones in my body, I've even been hit by two cars in my life and still came out of those accidents with only minor scratches.
