Sometimes, whenever I'm about to AAA or FC a song, and I see that I have a really high combo and the song is almost over, my fingers freeze up and I can't play, any thing I can try to stop it?

Play easier songs. There is not much of a good cure for that, except to think that you WON'T FC/AAA the song. Then usually, you do better.
Either that, or just play it again. I dunno.

Hit the keys harder. It's what I do.

Smoking is good for your lungs. It makes them grow big and strong.
When FCing a song: Just stay calm... FCing a song isn't really a big deal, especially when your best is Straight to Video. When AAAing a song: You've never AAAd a song, so if and when you attempt to AAA a song, just stay focused on the song, and maintain a steady beat. |

There's really no way to stop nervousness completely. If you start to get nervous, just breathe in and out deeply (works for me), make sure you stay focused, and, as dore said, tap harder.

- Don't look at your current score of the song at the bottom of the screen. The reassurance that you haven't tripped up a good/average/boo results in a loss of concentration. That's the time you really trip up. - Don't think of the end of the song (especially a difficult one) as the ultimate climax that you must overcome - such expectations basically puts a mental barrier from aaaing the song. Enjoy the song (if possible) and try not to think "this is it!". - Sometimes your fingers just won't cooperate. Take a break (from a few hours to a few days) and try the song another time. This often works. - Try a new fingering method. It may be more or less advantageous, depending on the patterns of the arrows. - If all else fails, force your fingers to hit the problematic arrows. Sometimes this works, but try one of the prior suggestions I've made first. Good luck! ![]() |

I usually just hit the keys harder. That does surprisingly work well. Or, I just try and calm myself down. *shrugs*
About to AAA? I think I've AAA'd maybe two songs, because my hands spazz just a little bit. But...It's all good. The break is a really good idea, actually. |

You actually have to do the exact opposite of what your brain is telling you. Thats what makes this hard to overcome for people, including myself.
Like a previous poster said, you have to honestly think that youre really not gonna do good on a song. When I play random songs just for fun and move around in my chair to the beat, I get a BF on Endless Dream. When I try to focus and say "Okay, I can do this", I get nervous and self-owned. |

I've read somewhere:
"The best way to AAA is to not go for the AAA" It's too stressful xD But if you're trying over and over and it doesn't work, Just go play harder song, Just for fun, or to FC, without stressing, and go back to it once and then. Eventually you'll get it. Last edited by jokim; 12-10-2007 at 10:46 PM.. |

I get nervous too. If you play a particular song for long enough you get so used to messing up at it, and eventually the anxiety passes and you can get through it.

The best solution, for me, is to go into almost complete body stasis, except for the hands. Don't blink, don't breathe unless necessary, and just stare at the screen. Don't focus on the combo, score, or "Perfect!". Black space is best, as it won't distract you.
And when your mind is bored, don't think about the song. Rant to yourself silently, or something. I don't know what your mind does in its free time.

I never get nervous, as I'm aware this is simply a game that does little (if at all) good to my life. A FC or AAA doesn't really mean much.
However, my eyes do get blurry and I start to tear, simply because I can't stand looking at the screen, focused, for over about 90 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the difficulty of the song (always this time range no matter what, though). I can't do anything with this, so I just see colors moving ![]() |
