Gretchen: 'What kind of name is Donnie Darko anyway? It sounds like some kind of superhero.'
Donnie: 'Who says I'm not?' Arguably the best quote in the movie. |

WRONG!!!!
Rose: I don't think telling any woman to forcibly insert an object into her anus is something that should go unpunished. Edward: I think we should buy him a moped. Rose: I think we should get a divorce.

I'd say you should see it. It is a pretty good movie, it just attracts loads of morons who think it's incredibly deep and has given their lives new meaning.

Agree, it's a pretty good film, although it does give a lot of people the idea that emotional problems are cool.

Well - i thought donnie darko was amazing. One of my everlasting favourite films. It can give off the wrong idea to some people - but can also comfort those with emotional problems - e.g. make them think they are not alone in this dark scary world.
I enjoyed the actual storyline and the way it was presented. Hilarious at certain times too.

1000 credits to the first person to explain the ending in the way it was meant to be interpreted.

It is incredibly deep. But I doubt it's given people's lives new meaning. For another incredibly deep and awesome movie, check out The Fountain.

lol.. i need to go and rewatch this movie. Someone had told me awhile back that the plot was never meant to be interpreted a certain way and was written in such a way that people would just assume it was deep lol. i have yet to do this though:
http://www.stainlesssteelrat.net/ddfaq.htm#.1 Says on that site that the website donniedarko.com was written in conjunction with the film. But who knows lol.. i don't feel like going that deep into it. How about just scrolling down a bit and reading the philosophy of time travel? :P

Sad thing, I've met plenty of people who didn't know what the movie was actually about.
They were all like, it's about a kid who goes and burns Patrick Swayze's house down whom is pronounced a pedophile. It's pretty sad not to catch the true meaning of that movie. It's one of my favorites. |

I never got the true meaning of the movie. I mean the ending made sense in a way, but I never fully got it.

I prefer to think of it as the movie never really happening. But that's kind of an outside the box way of thinking. The creator's point of the movie was a romantic one where he'd give up his life to save her. Any further reading into it is just the cult theory. End Spoils.
