Let me just said that I have a bad feeling with this argument, but I would say Mario. Sonic is fast, but that pretty much it. Mario is balanced in power, speed and stamina, so I would go for him.

I don't see Mario becomeing invincible by collecting 7 chaos emeralds and 50 rings. I don't see mario turning into Hyper Mario, or Turbo Mario, or even Ultra Mario. Therefore, Sonic wins.
