how to improove my rank......

I'm about at 9.5k now.

What songs should I be doing?

Try Standard to Tricky Songs.

Let's Say:

Breaking the Common, Horizon, Zodiac, Libertine, Spontaneous Hydroxide and Parachute (Stupid Clowns), Fett's Vette, La Luna Caida. Have a go at them and see wether you can FC em.

Maybe some songs like Tsugaru 180. Very difficult though but easy enough to attempt at later of course and Anubis. (Token songs)

Playing all the non token songs in the game will improve your rank. Play them all at least once, wether you can pass it or not, and your rank will have improved greatly after doing this. The rest goes like others said, work on easier songs you know you can do better on if you practice it.

Edit: Sorry, I thought you meant for average rank. My advice for you as far as overall rank is to simple Whore the game. There is no other secret..that and playing the songs you can get the highest scores on.

Oh yeah.
That's simple.
i think i played every token song i had a couple weeks ago and my rank went up fast.
I also played CIA Rave a lot yesterday and today and so far I've gone up 2000 ranks.
