One thing have bugged me along time, all those nasty spread songs. Or just spread steps in a overall indexfriendly song. They annoy me. I train and train and can't seem to clear certain obstacles. The amazing speed req for some steps is near impossible to train for.
However. What if you played two sets of arrows on two keyboards. The other keyboard would be at your feet and everytime a nasty jump comes in a rally fast stram several times you just push you toe over all four of the arrows. Or more complex. You map a beatmania/popn control and play with that with your feet at the sime time you play index. That way you can press just two buttons you really need to press. Is that considered cheating? PS. (flamesuit) (I have no desire to play like this and I'm currently slowly training some spread. But I like my index and it's a fun challenge. I'm not whining on difficulty just raising a fun discussion.) |

I'd suggest practicing everyday for 6 months instead of that idea =]

Playing with Pop'n at your toes would be awesome. I doubt it would work too well for jumpstream though...

my friend plays with "wasd ijkl" but he only uses his index fingers, i guess thats considered double setup, but he sucks anyway, and he rarely plays.

Just use double set up if you have to. 2 sets of keys one keyboard, each hand gets a set. I use it in SM for jacks.

If you played with you feet, you wouldn't get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Auto Hot Key don't let you play with duble setup, only if you can play one setup on the arrows. I'm not better at double setup but there is only a little difference. Tried it in SM a couple of times.
But this thread is about playing with additional feet to get the new spread feelng. =D |

If you map a key twice it says some error.. o_o
Anyway, I said I was practicing spread in the beginning. (I get better results at Loaded Futurefile Index than spread...) |

A small bump for a small suggestion: Why not switch to playing three-fingered? I've done that for a few years and it's really just like index except you can do many of the jumpstreams as well as crossovers. I used my index and middle finger of my right hand (middle finger always doing the right-arrow).
But it wasn't untill I started doing skill tokens that I made the transition to 4 fingers. Even on index songs I do better with 4 fingers then with 3. |
