A family in Long Island, NY has been secretly keeping slaves in there home for 5 years. They kept them locked up in the basement under the stairs and treated them like slaves. The closest family of the two women slaves didn't even know that they were being kept with the family. The family was caught yesterday when one of the slaves ran to a Dunkin Donuts. At first the manager thought they were homeless and gave them something to eat, then he saw that she was in really bad shape and called the police. When the police came the women explained how her "master" beat her. The police went to the house and immediately arrested the family, which has 2 children who knew about the slaves but did not say anything about it. They found the second slave in equally bad shape. They had cuts in the back of the ears. They explained how if they did something wrong the parents would make them have 20 chili peppers and would cut them behind their ears. The family is having a trial tomorrow.
How can people be this horrible?... Discuss. |

Yea I know. Some of my friends lived near that family. Nobody knew they had the slaves besides the family that kept them.

Whoa. I live about 5 minutes away from this family, literally.

. The truth is what I said, I live on Long Island, this was on the front of all the papers, and I am quite sure I've passed by the family's house numerous times.

People did this all the time way back when. It wasn't any better then. If anything, you should be more upset with slavery in the past, since it was accepted and therefore done much much more.

"They should be enslaved".
Enslaved is the verb. It's nice to see that the DD man gave them free food though. |

I hope they get their money back. I would hate to buy a non-compliant slave. Imagine the money the family is going to save on chili peppers, though.
