So yeah I just fired up SM for the first time in about a year, and I realized something. I suck, alot.
I play straight indexes, and I can't seem to play any other way, but I'm going to practice spread. If you consider yourself decent could you post exactly what keys and fingers you use? <.< please >.> [edit: Shash, Rebirth, Duk this is aimed at you!] Thanks Doug Also, are there any little things I can do to improve my score. Solo Singles, a certain Noteskin, Theme, Speed Mod etc.... Thanks Anyway, so this is a brag here are some random scores I just did ![]() ![]()

Use a noteskin, such as note or noteplus, so the notes will be different colors, use a higher speed mod, practice more, and I play with my indexes and middles on vbnm, which works quite well for me. Hope something in that helps somewhat.

Turn on assist tick to get used to the timing. I suck after playing FFR unless assist tick is on.

There is no assist tick in FFR, and I don't suggest using it in SM. It makes me not do as well when I get too used to it, and it really doesn't help on blazing fast stuff.

hmm, I didn't think of a spread type setup right in a row, I'll try that
I've tried as jk df hj qw op as 56 a d j l others etc. I seem to have trouble with down/right trills and jumpstreams involving down/right in general, I guess my left middle finger is now tied to my index ![]()

assist tick is lame dont use it unless you index or want a temporary boost. basicly just keep playing and find your norm for mods like cmod, noteskin, maybe hallway or distant (i recommend keeping it overhead which is default) and maybe take off background. once your comfortable with sm then just keep playing until you fall asleep on the keyboard or get some finger, hand, or wrist disease

Thanks for the positive response but I still have two burning questions.
Do Shash, Rebirth and Duk play spread? If so do they do one handed trills with their left hand? Thanks p.s., what's the deafult offset for Hayden's Aghea, I just fuked it up... :P

Read the first post only, so I may be a little behind.
DON'T USE ASSIST TICK. Start playing using this (What I use) qw;op or something similar. Keep rate at 1.0x. Speed up to 700-800BPM is somewhat what I use, or use C750. I use Metal Noteskin, helps me a lot. I don't know why, but I play scroll reverse on jack infested songs. Helps somehow. That's all the advice I can give you...keep practicing. EDIT: Shashakiro and Rebirth0 aren't THAT good at SM, they are pretty decent but not the best. Youtube or google: Bluemystic and Thaor. They are incredible SM players that you should do some research on. |

Because you seem to be unsure:
Spread involves 1 finger on 1 key. The best players (thaor, tsut, dynamo) play this way. Yes, they do one handed trills with one hand. Yes, it feels stiff. Yes, that's normal. Yes, trills are the biggest weakness of this playstyle. Just get used to it. You just need to play, it's simple as that. |

TWO THOUZAND COMBO

Nima is considered BS nowadays, since he promised vids and never delivered.
I use left down 86, although I'm nowhere near the best at SM...best in SM are Thaor (speed), Tsutter (between), and Bluemystic (accuracy)
