Default Post Your Computer

I'm kinda interested, so please post your specs and / or a picture. And only your main system or possibly two if you are proud of them both, but I don't want to hear about your 486DX system that is sitting in your basement.

I'll post later, once I get a pic.

Fortunately, I'm finally getting a new comp...I convinced my dad that our comp was the POS of the universe, but he gave me a $600 (roughly) price range...but anyway, here's what I think I'm gonna get (advice would be nice as well).

AMD Athlon 2600+ quantispeed w/400 MHz front bus
120 GB Western Digital HD
512 MB Duel Channel SDRAM
Nvidia GeForce MX440 128 MB (I know it sucks, I'm planning on upgrading it)

Any suggestions/comments?

If you will overclock, you may want to get a 2500+ instead of a 2600+. Also, the MX440 is the bigggest piece of crap ever. Don't even bother with it. If you want to spend the time and have the patience to find one, a 9500 pro is IMO still the best bang for your buck, especially if you don't mind some serious tweaking. I got my 2500+ rock solid with a 200 mhz fsb x11. that means that I bought a 2500+ and got a 3200+. Though it's tougher to do (you have to flash your bios), overclocking the radeon 9500 pro to essentially make it like a slightly lesser version of a 9700 pro is pretty easy and extremely worthwhile.

If you aren't overclocking though, go with whatever you want for a processor, but AMD is definately the way to go (price-wise).

If you are building this yourself, don't skimp on the Power Supply. An craptastic power supply can destroy any piece of hardware you get, and you will never know that it was the PSU's fault.

My comp specs:

Desktop:
AMD 750 mhz slot
567 mb ram
40 gig hard drive
Radeon 7500
that logitech mx duo

Laptop:
Pentium 4 3.06GHz 800FSB
ATI Radeon 9600 128MB
40GB HD
24x CDRW / 8X DVD Combo Drive

The laptop I got a while ago as a college investment. Its what I'll be using through it. Its gunna be my back pack, notes and all that. And i wont have to use the school computers for 3d modeling, since i just get a copy from the school and use it on my laptop. (going to the art insitute of california-san diego) Its my baby :hugs:

Your desktop=teh suck. Although its interesting that you seemed interested in beefing up the Ram and nothing else...

Your laptop= teh win. How much did you have to pay for that thing? Usually you have to pay like, twice as much for a laptop than you would of a desktop of equal value.

2,500, not even though, i dont feel like calculating the tax. Wasn't that bad since some desktops that are slightly better cost way more. then again, you're paying a premium for the newest parts, so meh.

The only reason the desktop has assloads of ram is cause i found a 512 stick in my friends garage. he said he didnt want it, so i snagged it.

Dude nice...wish my friends gave away Ram. My comp sure as hell could use it..although when I get my new one, you know how much it'd rule to get a gig in that thing.

My friend has this nice as hell comp...
AMD Athlon 64 bit XT
1 GB Ram
240 GB HD
Nvidia GeForce Ultra 5600 256

I want one...*sniffle*
