I'm kinda interested, so please post your specs and / or a picture. And only your main system or possibly two if you are proud of them both, but I don't want to hear about your 486DX system that is sitting in your basement.
I'll post later, once I get a pic. |

Fortunately, I'm finally getting a new comp...I convinced my dad that our comp was the POS of the universe, but he gave me a $600 (roughly) price range...but anyway, here's what I think I'm gonna get (advice would be nice as well).
AMD Athlon 2600+ quantispeed w/400 MHz front bus 120 GB Western Digital HD 512 MB Duel Channel SDRAM Nvidia GeForce MX440 128 MB (I know it sucks, I'm planning on upgrading it) Any suggestions/comments? |

If you will overclock, you may want to get a 2500+ instead of a 2600+. Also, the MX440 is the bigggest piece of crap ever. Don't even bother with it. If you want to spend the time and have the patience to find one, a 9500 pro is IMO still the best bang for your buck, especially if you don't mind some serious tweaking. I got my 2500+ rock solid with a 200 mhz fsb x11. that means that I bought a 2500+ and got a 3200+. Though it's tougher to do (you have to flash your bios), overclocking the radeon 9500 pro to essentially make it like a slightly lesser version of a 9700 pro is pretty easy and extremely worthwhile.
If you aren't overclocking though, go with whatever you want for a processor, but AMD is definately the way to go (price-wise). If you are building this yourself, don't skimp on the Power Supply. An craptastic power supply can destroy any piece of hardware you get, and you will never know that it was the PSU's fault. |

Your desktop=teh suck. Although its interesting that you seemed interested in beefing up the Ram and nothing else...
Your laptop= teh win. How much did you have to pay for that thing? Usually you have to pay like, twice as much for a laptop than you would of a desktop of equal value. |
