Default About double setup.

*EDIT BY SYNTH* Double setup is under investigation. Trying to decide if it should be allowed or not.

Double setup is using both the numpad and the arrow keys at the same time to play...or any eight keys on the keyboard, for that matter.

To clarify, more than double is not ok because it requires the use of an external program or source. Also, mapping a key to more than one arrow is still definitely cheating.

What combination of keys you use should be up to you. At least that is my opinion. Also, if people think I am wrong on this, lets discuss it. Sometimes I don't fully understand the dynamics.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that double setups should be considered cheating as they always were (weren't they?).

Well I quickly checked one song, which was Chrono Trigger, and yeah... if double setup's gonna be legal... then you should be able to fc it now...

Edit: I made a junk score to see if it's possible without making top 10

My only problem with it being cheating is that it's a default, game-given setup (numpad + arrow keys), and that it's nearly impossible to detect.

Oh, and you could theoretically do the same thing on one key, although it's very hard to get that to actually register correctly. IMO, it'd be absolutely ridiculous to call THAT cheating.

Kotarou: no. it's impossible to avoid a miss on the 8 glitched arrows, period, as far as I know.

It should definately be considiered cheating. Having eight fingers on eight seperate keys gives an unfair advantage considering that you can respond twice as quickly if you have two keys representing one arrow.

show me an SS with under 8 misses then.

I think you thought you combo'd one but didn't. The first jack doesn't have one, FYI.

someone else has to pull that off cause I seriously can't do CT, it feels awkward trying to do it best combo I can do is 310 and I'm screwing up more on the easy parts than the glitch parts, I don't feel like whoring the song either... I only whore songs I want to improve

Runnymorning FC is easy with double. If you guys want me to do it I will but I haven't tried it since I got 888 combo first try. It's taking away from the original difficulty of the song.

To expand upon this, a keyboard (or auxiliary input device) could be made that is otherwise normal except it has larger keys that are better able to detect two fingers "rolling" on a key. It would be pretty ridiculous to call that an "illegal FFR keyboard". This could give you many of the same benefits that a double setup provides.

Also is it wrong to use them to assist spreaders in doing trills, or is it only wrong to use them on jacks?

If nothing else, the acceptable key setups and input devices should be better defined. Simply saying "no double setups" isn't enough.

No.

Anyone can turn numlock off, which makes the numpad register EXACTLY as the arrow keys do, from the output of the keyboard...at least that's what I understand.
