Default my experience playing heavy

When playing heavy songs you will want to never touch the middle, and speedng up song Will Not help you in the least bit. When playing songs around the hardness of Dakenkai - Heavy and Sakura - Heavy you will want to let your left foot control bottom and left and the right control the top and right. I know this will feel funky in the beginning but it really helps you. I also notice that actually listening while you play helps, it gets you into the rythm.

The reason i put i havent passed becuase in my standards A or better is passing. I have had a few b's playing it but hey its hard. Sakura is insane i cannot do the last part. Max 300 when it sped up for final time confuses the hell out of me.

Now to the actual story.

Ok, so there i was at my friends house we started playing DDR and he was kicking ass on dakenkai (weeks ago) and i was first time trying more difficult songs in Heavy such as Why and bag(sped up). I mustve sucked really bad cause it took me about 10 tries to finnally pass Why (about 3 for bag). Then the next day i got a AA Im like Holy ****. Then about 2 days later (after school held up my schedual) i got a AAA Im like YAAAAAHHHHHH i got a picture but it wasnt a digital camera.

Yes this is mostly a bragging thread but i didnt see a ddr bragging place.

Let me clarify a few points here. You've got it mostly right. =)

Truer words never spoken. That's rule #1 for any four-panel player. (Unless mines are involved. Then you learn how to use the center as a fifth panel, but DDR doesn't have mines.)

This holds true at first. However, as you play longer, you may want to experiment with upping the speed a little. There are very very few 1x players out there anymore, since some things just have patterns that are painful to read when clumped together. As an example, see the end of the Trick Oni course (Max 300 Heavy, 0.25x scroll speed). Speed mods are your friends; use them as you need them.

Ew. Bad, bad newbie! If you're sticking yourself in one position, you're seriously restricting your freedom of motion. Daikenkai, yes, the patterns are horrible (All spins, technically. =D) and you can't get a flow of left foot-right foot-left foot-right foot going. However, most of Sakura flows nicely, and you generally shouldn't be double-stepping (Also called shuffling; meaning hitting two arrows in succession at high(er) speeds) through the fast areas.

Yup. Many people fail to catch this fact, somehow.

As I said, you're going to want to move your body way more than you said you were. The way you're playing now is a style (I think?) referred to as California Flatfoot, and it's pretty difficult to pick up. My best advice is this: Move more. If it's your first time, and you aren't tired afterwards, you're doing it wrong. =P

Home version, yes? =) Interesting that you seem to've picked up the game so quickly. Keep at it and you'll be playing with (<Ego>)the best of us (</Ego>) in no time.

Neo is right

try doing crossovers (42624 -or- 48684) with doing it the way u do...its impossable. The only 2 ways are to treat them like gallops or turning your body which is the better method.

Also when u get to heavy doubles you will be so screwed. When you play doubles you have to cross ur feet over and move ur body left right go backwards whole bunch of things.

Summary: U play like a nub XD

Daikenkai heavy isn't too bad with crossovers, which lets your theory be good, but once you do daikenkai challenge, there is more crossovers, which kinda screws your theory about fetting over.

I totally disagree with you.

Especially with the speed mod thing. Are you kidding me? Speeding up wont help. I've been playing 10's on ITG, and like Neo said, NOONE plays on times one speed.

Ever sence I've experimented with the speed everything came easier. You shouldn't try to formulate a standard way to play these dancing games. Every person has their own unique style, and I think some of the things you suggested are trying to tamper with that.

Although I can appritiate what your trying to do here, I disagree. That's all I have to say. LOL.

Alright you have some good aspects and it seems like you've picked up the game fairly quickly, but you need to work on strategy more.

If you really want to play on 1x speed it's not that hard, just do the song on whatever speed is comfortable and keep moving the speed down. I can do "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" (or something like that) Heavy on .5x speed. Just need to get the rythm (listen to the music) and go along with it.

Speeding it up does to help.
Sakura and Paranoia's/Maxx's I play no bar, x1.5, and bar, x2
