Post Playing DDR without paying.

Okay at my local arcade I play DDR right, when these teens come in and invade the DDR machine all the way till midnight. I stay to watch and see them play it without paying a single quarter! How they do this you ask? They go behind the DDR machine and do something, and that bass sound when you enter a quater plays like 25 times in a row in a split second. Then they come back out and play DDR with all those free games and did not insert a single coin. Is this right? I've played one game with them and I felt bad knowing that I was playing a game that was not payed for. The arcade attendants don't know about this as well. Should I report them?

From a random player's standpoint, who cares? Just as long as you aren't the operator...

But if these teens abuse that, it's best to report them. No need to mention yourself, just them. If the arcade operators notice that they're not making much money even though they see the machine being played constantly, they'll know something's up. While they can investigate, they can also just decide that it's not worth keeping the machine because of the loss in profit and just discard it.

The money pickup guys would come in monday mornings at our mall and give us free games, and after they left we got our locksmith buddy to come and free creds all day.

I say report them if they are hogging the machine. Or casually get the arcade attendents to walk by and check the coin hopper thing when they are playing.

If it's a constant problem, definitely figure out some way to let the employees know about it. If you don't it won't end well at all, I can guarantee that.

However, back in the day (We're talking two years ago or so, I think) the arcade I played at used to have a few employees that didn't mind shelling out a couple freebies once in a while.

As for overtaking the machine, it happens. Just deal with it however you feel is the best way (Aside from taking up physical attacks, you know...I wouldn't condone a fist fight over a game).

This one time one of my credits got stuck so I got the arcade guy to fix it and he left the operator menu open.

INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT INSERT CREDIT

What a day that was

Also I put it on joint premium and no menu timer, and the owners of the arcade dont know **** about itg so it never got turned back.

It might be the cabinet's coin switch. There is a on/off setting on some coin switches that can trigger a current if it's nudged and vibrated. That's just a guess though. Just tell your operator about it if people are being douchebags about it. Especially, as said before, if the cab doesn't make money, it will only make sense that the location will get rid of it eventually.

My local arcade has a cool policy that avoids this. WHile they have typically coin operated machines, you pay $10 to get inside and all the games from there out are free. That way you can't get in to rig the machine unless you pay.

I don't know, I want to play DDR, but when they invade the machine only free games are on the screen. If I play a round, then I have to use one of their free games and they don't mind at all. I don't want to do this, because if those guys are caught then I'll be involved as well. There is only one safe way to end this and that is by reporting them, but I don't like being a snitch so I'm stuck with three choices. *sigh* I just don't know.

There's a machine near me that you don't have to pay for. All the coin mechs at the place get jammed all the time, but the one on ITG2 is a bit loose. So, all I have to do is bang the front of the ITG2 mech 4 times, and WHAM... four coins, one credit. I don't feel bad about it either, because no matter what I say to the arcade tech about the crappy pads, he won't fix them.

Friend of mine knows how to do the "play free" trick. I've got lots of free games back when i was kinda into playing it, not anymore though.
