I wouldn't mind writing something and having it published, but I doubt anyone would want to read a whole book about anything I have to say.

I'm working on something, I need to flesh it out a lot more, but hopefully it will be good enough for publishing

Is this the blatant ripoff of Ender's Game you told me about two years ago? Go progress!

Re: How many of you have actually thought of publishing a book
Right now, I am working on something. I've told a few people about it, but mostly I write for myself. If you want to here my long winded explanation of what it is, just IM, if not, spare yourself.
I think it's pretty interesting though, a lot of people aspire to be writers. |

Quote:
There is a parallel universe that has an Earth but it did not follow our course of history (think Resistance: Fall of Man). America is now called Asonia and technology is more advanced than this universe's. Anyways, Asonia was involved in a war in the Middle East with the country of Persima. Persima invaded the neighboring country of Daimones causing Asonia to move in to protect it's Middle Eastern influences. However, instead of defeating Persima, Persima now declared war with Asonia. Persima had developed a weapon called the M-108 Ultraviolet bomb which pretty much mimics the energy of the sun, but cancels out the explosive properties. Aston, a city in Asonia, held the Aston Artillery and Ammunition Company which provided almost 17% of the U.S. Army's artillery. Now if you were an enemy country flying into another country. wouldn't it be smart to take out cities that supply weaponry? Exactly. Persima bombed Aston causing people to wait it out in bunkers built against the bomb. Our main character, Kei Machina (Mach-eena) watched his father and brother die in the bombing. Fast forward 10 years later, Kei is now 15 and is going to high school for the first time with his best friend and brother figure Sheen Wake. Now, Sheen and Kei must battle through the school year in a game that is played called, "Trials by Fire." In this game, Teams of four students are placed within a certain area of the city and must either complete the objective or take out the other team to win. Basically, the students are forced to play the game because it's a way for AMITA (Asonian Military Intelligence and Technology Agency) to keep track of the future military leaders of tomorrow. The cause? Persima has installed a splinter cell agency within Asonia that plans to orchestrate a mass terrorist plot. Goal? Find the top students in the school, make them play a military game, and turn them into soldiers. The catch is that Kei's mother is the creator of the program and has been trying to override her superiors in order to keep Sheen and Kei from having to play. No dice. They are going to play and they have to play with the Seniors, the most ruthless of the four divisions. I'd love to go more in depth but you get the idea. Blatant ripoff? I think not good sir. Also, I just started the book this year so how has it been 2 years? :3

Nice double post. That would be a good book to write about Fojar, but I just don't seem motivated enough to do a sports novel. -_-

Re: How many of you have actually thought of publishing a book
It sounds good until the government runs a battle simulator to trick kids into becoming real fighters. Plus, Mach-eena sounds really weird.
And you know I always give you a hard time =P (But step up the pace! You're only on chapter 2 and you told me about this last year)

Re: How many of you have actually thought of publishing a book
I've written some things, but I don't plan on getting published. It's a lot harder to get published than most people think. A lot of really amazing writers can't even get published , and you think a company is going to look at the work of a mediocre writer for more than a second?
So yea, I just write for fun once every blue moon, nothing I take too seriously.
