Default Lucid Dreaming

I recently found out about this lucid dreaming (on /b/ when a guy posted a thread about having sex with some anime character [forgot] in his lucid dream).
So did anyone heard about this, or even had a lucid dream?
If you don't know what it is, or try to do it, go to http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Lucid_D.../Print_version.

I read it when I was 16.

I might have to read it again though, so thanks for the link.

There have been about forty gajillion threads on lucid dreaming here, and it still doesn't seem like anything more than a regular dream, especially one that you can control having...

That's where you know you're dreaming right? I like those dreams, but they only turn lucid when I'm close to waking up =\

I can't really "control" them, I just play whatever situation I'm in. It's been years since I've had one though.

I have had lucid dreams before I knew what they were. I've always dreamt very vividly, and I still find lucid dreams very hard to come by. If you don't have vivid dreams which you remember, don't even bother trying to have a lucid dream. They're very cool actually, one dream that is in my top ten most memorable was a lucid dream with false wakeups.

It started off as a normal dream, I was just riding in a car, I fell asleep in the car, when I woke up I was parked in another town. I got out and started walking, wanting to head home, eventually someone punched me in the face and knocked me out, when I woke up I was in my own house. Except, that it wasn't my own house, it looked very different from my house, I looked outside and it was snowing, since it was in the middle of summer when I had this dream, I knew I was dreaming. So then all kinds of weird things happened, I wrote down what happened but I don't remember it all off hand.

Lucid dreams are nothing really "special" they're just dreaming in a lighter sleep, the best way to have them is napping. The most controllable lucid dream I had was very weird, it was one I set out to have and set out to change night to day, it worked. But I woke up a few minutes later because the sleep I was in was so light that ANY noises will wake you up.

Lucid dreams are a crap shoot, but they're cool, they're only slightly more fun than a regular dream though, so as long as you have decently vivid dreams you're not missing out on much if you've never had a lucid dream.

I usually have 1 or so dreams a week that I can actually remember, and I can always control myself in them.

Usually I only control myself, but sometimes I can control everything.

If lucid dreaming is having control over the actions in dreams, I probably have never had one unless it was last night. I had a wierd dream last night that was my personal favorite nightmare ever. I was solving some easy Physics problems or something and a noise woke me up at about 4 am. I couldn't get back to sleep because the numbers were still going through my mind. It was like half-sleep where I had to solve the problem and could sort of control it but couldn't get back into a deep sleep. I also remember a depth-first search being involved, although I have no idea why. It was awesome but sucked. :O

I have dreams in light sleep all of the time. I can control things in them sometimes.

I don't dream very vividly though. So I don't really much care.

ps I've been meaning to check out self hypnotism for a while. MoP showed me a site with it on there a long time ago and I never tried it, but ever since I saw a hypnotism performance thing, I've wanted to check it out. So yeah, thanks for that link.

I've had lucid dreams. They're different from real dreams in that you're concious, or at least, more concious. I think I experience semi-lucid dreams fairly often, when I know that I'm dreaming, but I don't really take advantage of that fact, or I kinda shrug it off. There's not a big 'aha! I'm dreaming'. (am I spelling concious right?)

What I've been trying to do lately is remain concious while falling asleep. I've heard that its possible. You can feel the loss of your motor control. Unfortunately, I'm failing at doing so miserably. Whenever I do fall asleep, my thoughts are always churning, and until I had heard otherwise, I would never have thought of being able to fall asleep without firstly, the churning thoughts, and secondly, the loss of them gradually.

It's either I don't remember them or they are lucid.

Sorry to stray off topic just a tad bit, but:

What I find to be really fascinating is that they're becoming very close to being able to RECORD someone's dreams, so other people may be able to watch.

Totally wrong. Noone is even close to technology that sophisticated.

I've only had a few lucid dreams, they only happen when I'm just about to get up and I'm in a light state of sleep. They're so awesome 8) I do have quite a few vivid dreams, as well.

I've figured out how to lucid dream whenever you want to, it's just difficult. It just requires a lot of concentration(just like the gentleman above has said.) and staying conscience from the time you lay down, till the time that you fall into a half-sleep trance, till the time you fall completely asleep. After that, it's fun time.

till the time that you fall into a half-sleep trance
I hate being aware in this stage. It makes me feel like I'm never gonna get to sleep. I have had a few lucid dreams. Most of them involve me slapping myself about 10 times right when I find out it's a dream and/or gain control of the dream, because I think it's fun to do stuff like that. I also pinch myself, run into walls, and other great stuff. It's a hoot. I'm usually too excited or something to try to fly or any of that jazz. (Apparently flying is an extremely common thing to try in lucid dreams, and yes, I get excited when I gain control of my dreams.) Then something frightening usually happens after the self-abuse, and I try desperately to wake myself up. Then I go through a very long series of false awakenings, frightening occurences, then more false awakenings. My lucid dreams aren't the funnest things ever, but I find it more annoying when I wake up and it felt like the night's sleep was a black void of nothing. Actually, I'm like FluorescentArmy. It's either lucid or I don't remember. (Though there are rare occurences where I do.) Dreams are so very interesting...
