Default Restrict number of non-registered users online.

Okay, so I was looking on the bottom screen, seeing if my buddies were online, and this is what I saw:

370 users online (47 registered and 323 unregistered)

That's a LOT of unregistered users. It should be limited to 250, or around there. If you try to access the site, and there's already too many users, have a message pop up that says ,"Sorry! Ther are too many members online. Not a user? Sign up here! (Link to register page) Already a member? Sign in here! (Link to a sign-in page) Forgot your passsword? Click here." (Link to forgotton password sheet.)

In my opinion, it would be an excellent idea, because for one thing, people are mad when the Anonymous account is in the MP room, so they can't get in. This would also get many more users to the site. In no time, we'd hit a million users, then ever MORE people will come because people will be like "WOW, they have a million members! I'll go tell my friends about this cool site!"

Just a thought...

Some of those non-registered users are GoogleBots or bots from other search engines, that are constantly trolling billions of webpages to update their search engine...

And others are just people who don't want to register. *shrugs*. Regardless, Synth, and all of the FFR Staff, are COMPLETELY against preventing anyone from viewing or playing FFR, for any reason. They don't have to register if they don't want to.

Anyway, what's the problem with requiring registration to get in MP? In fact, wasn't the WHOLE game like that for a while. I seem to recall a version of FFR that if you weren't logged in, it wouldn't let you play and would instead suggest that you register. I mean, it's not like it costs anything to register.

Anyone can play FFR and access all levels regardless of registration. You register if you want your stats saved. It may suggest that you register but does not require it. Telling people they cannot browse the site or play the game without registration would turn many people away before they even get a chance to know what the game is about. Kairi, I can tell you that your theory is wrong. Without our current policies of letting anyone play from anywhere, we would probably only have half the registered users we do now.

Cheers,

Synthlight
