Default Flash Flash Revolution Fantasy Football

NOTE: You don't sign up in this thread, you sign up at Yahoo! at the link provided later.

Since there's been enough of a calling for it recently, here it is.

First off, DON'T SIGN UP IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO PARTICIPATE. I don't want any Mindfields-style dead weight.

Now, this league is hosted on Yahoo!, so if you're lol pr0 at this you know where to go. If you're new or stupid (or just lazy), here's a quick link.

http://football.fantasysports.yahoo...._league_select

League ID: 182645
Password: Synthdarkness

Current draft time is set for Monday, August 28th at 7 PM Eastern. I think everyone who's in school will be home by then (hopefully no collegiate folks will be moving in that evening). I expect people to not forget, but odds are I'll be bumping this topic a week or so beforehand anyway. Of course, if a sufficient number of people can't make it, I'm willing to change it, but Yahoo! has limited availability so be aware that it may not be possible to change to a time you want. Also I'm most likely going to be a selfish jerk and not agree to a time change I can't make. >_>

Weekly competition is Head-to-head. Positions are as follows:

1 QB
2 RB
3 WR
1 RB/WR
1 TE
1 K
1 Defense (team)
8 bench spots

I may add things depending on attendance (low number of participants may lead to extra QB and/or Defense spots).

Scoring is mostly standard fare. I'm allowing 6 points for a passing TD because fantasy football is already insanely biased toward RBs and I don't see a need to widen the gap. Changes include 1 point for every 20 return yards (keep this in mind when drafting backup RBs/WRs; this only applies to individuals, however, so team defenses will not be rewarded) and -1 for every PAT missed or FG under 20 yards missed because if you're missing at that range you deserve to be punished.

Playoffs are set to Weeks 15 and 16 (4 teams). Again, depending on participation, this may be bumped up to 6 or 8 teams (which would make playoffs start Week 14).

Obviously, these settings are my preference, but I'm open to change on just about anything if there's a large enough outcry for it.

I'll be joining at least one for school with my friends, so I don't know if I'll be willing to do 3 or 4, but I'll probably join this.

The good thing about fantasy football is that it normally only requires your attention two or three times a week. It's not terribly hard to keep track of a couple of leagues.

I'll sign up right now.

Yeah, last year we did chose who we thought would win each game, witht he spread included, on CBS Sportsline.

This will be a nice change, and I will be much more enthuasitic/active then the baseball one.

Here are my possible, but probable picks.
QB: Carson Palmer
RB: Shaun Alexander & Edgerrin James
WR: Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, & Roddy White
RB/WR: Brian Westbrook
TE: Antonio Gates
K: Neil Rackers or Jay Feely
Defense: Carolina Panthers (ranked 4th in rush and 9th in pass), possibly Tampa Bay Buccaneers (ranked 6th in rush and 6th in pass)
Bench: I'll decide during the draft.

You're not going to get SA, Edge and Steve Smith unless there are about 6 people in this league and Roddy White blows fantasywise so I don't know why you'd want him.

Also, people still need to sign up. You don't sign up in this thread, you sign up at Yahoo!. Maybe I wasn't clear enough in the initial post.

Why would you want Palmer after his surgery? He's expected to play the opener, but I wouldn't take him as my starter.

Figure out the name of my team.

The baseball league had 7 people. I expect this one to have more because people here are more interested in the sport.

Draft's at 7 Eastern (4 Pacific).

He still has CJ and Housh as well as Rudi to take pressure off. He may not put up the godly numbers he had last year but he's definitely still a Top 10 choice at worst, Top 5 being a pretty safe bet. Yahoo! has him as the #2 QB overall behind you-know-who.

Carson Palmer is ranked #3 in the Sports Illustrated Fantasy Preview 2006 Player Rankings.
