Stepmania 4.0 is still really buggy, don't worry about it cause it probably does have bad timing. Notice that it says test drive Stepmania 4.0 on Stepmania.com, it isn't ready yet, it still needs a lot of work. Also I noticed that when you're in the editor whenever you hit a hold arrow you'll get an access violation.

hmmm i noticed an error on sm 4.0 have u ever gone to one more extra stage?? mine errors out and doesnt let me... it says some empty note skin or so... also sudden death mode doesnt work either. that the same with you?

I would suggest staying with SM 3.9 until the release of SM 4.0 is official.
