those same words are used in the C&C series... which came out before Starcraft. Therefore, this is just another C&C thread and you fail.

Tass, I never played C&C long enough to get to the levels where you could use nukes. SC was faste at developing to things like nukes. Which I thought was better. Late game is where all the real good action comes in.

I prefer early game. That's where your micro REALLY shines... late game is more about macro.

You wanna be stumped by an SC question ehh? What favorite terran unit attempts to copy an opera song?

that might be too damn easy actually... um... as far as I know Ghost will never come out. The release dates been pushed back so many times that I just accepted the reality of it and told my favorite company to just stop developing it and make a SC2. By the time it does come out the graphics on it will be old fashioned... I almost go as far as to say we will have 3d holographic games that surround us in a little chamber before they figure out when they wanna release it.

NO ONE can mess around with C&C. It was an original that pushed the boundries of RTS games. And was the best until people found that SC came out and took less brain power... The idea of the RTS genre is to think stratigically, not nuke them till they cry to thier mommies... damn that sounds fun... I will continue writing this after a round of beating newbs in a 3v1 melee match...

Um yeah forgot what I was writing... But to admit the truth... Westwood could've stopped at red alert 2... anything after that just sucked and stole too much CPU... My computer can handle F.E.A.R. without much of a problem... yet Generals runs slow as hell.

Sorry for off topic C&C discussion but I had that built up in me for the past couple years

Well they actually had a concept of the valkrye(spelling) but decided in the long run not to put it in cause Valks own big time... I think that was a hint at a new BroodWar unit...
You want Sc riddles? Fine alrighty then...

Who is the Protoss "betrayer"?
oh and if you figure that one out.
Who saved Zeratul in Broodwar?

oh and do you play on bnet? I'd be interested in seeing how good you are!
seeing as you seem to know so much.
Edit: either name for the second question is acceptable.

That's because EA took over with Generals. Pre EA games had almost live actors and 2d sprite graphics, saving your GPU for cool things like nuke effects.
Generals, however, was EAs bid into the C&C Universe. Utilizing the technology of the time, they made a memory hogging, fully maleable camera. While bringing some nifty tricks to C&C, the shift was too large for Generals to catch on as much as the original C&Cs and the Red Alert series.
The fast paced gameplay that the originals had was left out of Generals, which seems to favor turtlers and heavy superweapon focus.
In Red Alert, I'd take an army of Mammoth tanks, or a swarm of light tanks, over superweapons any day.

Amen... and if memory serves right Mammoth tanks could more then likely take a hit from any super weapon... hell they were the super weapon. Regenerating tanks... wow... who'da thought of that.
NOD OBELISKS!!!!! They should make a comeback... that was the coolest thing to build... a little tower that shot lasers at everything... Oh and I hate how they changed it to 3 countries... GDI and NOD was an awsome concept... now adding a 3rd orginization would have been okay(maybe overkill, branches of the parent organization?) but noooo they screw us over and make is 3 major countries (havn't played Generals in a while so I'm not really sure if it was 2 countries and the terrorists or what, I just beat it and forced it out of my sight... but yeah you get the idea)

It was 3 groups, the USA, China, and the GLA. GLA were the terrorists, using biochemical weapons, China used nuclear tech, and the USA used a lot of lasers (pew pew pew).

And you're right, Mammoth tanks would regen to a max of 50% health if they were damaged.

NOD Obelisks and Tesla Coils were and always will be the best defenses known to man. I found a website on how to make a tesla coil, but it turns out they're really expensive. Go figure.

See now my question is how do you direct a bolt of lightning? Alrighty too far off topic. Where did thread maker go... I wanna see if he can figure out the 2 ?'s I had there... Oh and I can do Sc riddles... and C&C to some extent... been along time for C&C. time to whip out the DOS floppy disks and pray that I can open a shell window to play it.

Edit: anybody know a way to play the original with sound? I must have awsome obelisk noises... (high charge buzzing noise, Pew, BOOOM)

Pick up The First Decade. 30-40 bucks... is 1 DVD with ALL the C&C games on it, from Tiberium Dawn thru the Generals Expansion. And it runs on XP fairly well.

And, the whole point of C&C (never played SC or WC) is that by missions 9 or 10, you really have to have a good strategy, or you'll get crushed. Levels with minimal amounts of ore, levels where you're getting attacked and overpowered right from the start and constantly, etc etc. STRATEGY. And even the early-mid levels take a bit of thought... things like needing to attack through a back entrance, or using stealth vs just making a massive army and attacking with 75 tanks.

Answer to the first question is Al Daris.

Kerrigan let Zeratul live in the ninth BW mission after he had to sacrifice raszagal. I dunno if thats the same as saving him though. If not ill have to think a lil harder.

As for Battle Net. Yeah I play a lot but i haven't played mellee for about 3 years. I've been playing a lot of UMS games. If you want to battle im more than up for it but im likely to be teh suck cause im really rusty.

Second question is Fenix and/or Jimmy Raynor. First mission they stay behind and keep the gate open and clear from the hoarde that is Zerg, to allow them to get to the other side in one peice saving zeratul and his little tribe.

I play lots of UMS nowadays too... but yeah if you ever wanna play me x-Melancholy-x is my tag. And I think that was his name... It was that one stupid high templar you had to kill in the original(I think?) where he stole your ability to make archons... and you finally get dark archons... I'm really tired today. leave my stupidity alone! ARGH lmao

Its Brood War when you finally get Dark Archons. They wernt avalible units in the original. and that was the seventh toss mission tagged the insurget or something

For the second one does that count as saving them? They just really held the zerg from coming from the warp gate. Which was a failure anyway cause the zerg were already on the planet

Ive got the same tag on brood war look me up sometime
