Default Modifying windows xp startup.

Not exactly a programming question, but does anyone know how to get rid of that welcome screen or login box when you start windows xp, so when you start your computer it goes straight to the desktop? Any help would be appreciated.

Offhand, I know that StyleXP / WindowsBlinds can do that for you. I just hate those programs.

Google also helps:

You can't simply get rid of the login, I don't think o_O The Windows NT line has been more focused on security than the utterly retarded Windows 9x user management system.

Actually, since it was bumped anyway.

TweakUI. Totally forgot about it. You can set it to auto-logon for a specific user, namely, yourself.

If you're the only user, it should automatically do it. If you're NOT the only user, that's kinda selfish, eh?

You can put in the registry to run explorer.exe insted of winlogon.exe I tried it in a VMWare and it worked for me... though i don't know about a real windoze machine... I don't have anything but Linux on a physical drive . Give that a whirl... hehe

I tried once, by downloading this thing of the internet, but I didnt finish it off because... uhhh... ummm... why didn't I finish?
But anyways, I think you need to get this thing off the internet somewhere.
Try searching for Log in screens on google or some other search engine.

If you are the only user on computer it probably doesn't automatically log on because you have a password set.

Wow. What are the chances of this happening? I just was reading about how to do THAT EXACT THING. TODAY. And I just now noticed this topic TODAY.

Unfortunately, I found it through stumbleupon and unfortunately didn't care enough to say I liked or dislike it. So, I can't find it again. That way.

But, due to the fact I'm a wondeful person, I went through my history and found it.

One site

http://www.soft32.com/download_1614.html

It's called BootXP, and it lets you change the pic too. I for one use a sweet looking Boondock Saints pic.
