My school district sucks.

This man worked at MY SCHOOL! The elementary school mentioned is next to us.

OAK PARK -- A 32-year-old teacher at an Oak Park elementary school, later resigned to Roosevelt Middle School, is being held on $100,000 cash bond in Oakland County Jail on charges that he sexually assaulted two students.

James Norman Perry, a Ferndale resident and teacher at Francis Scott Key Elementary on Jerome Street in Oak Park, was arraigned Wednesday in 45B District Court on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of second degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.

Raymond Correll, Perry's attorney, said his client, who was suspended from his job Tuesday, maintains his innocence.

"He's denied these charges and allegations," said Correll, who declined to comment further.

The charges stem from an Oct. 12, 2005, incident. Oak Park police declined to given any more details about the case, including the age of the victims, their gender, grades, where the alleged incident occurred, how long Perry had been a teacher at Key or any other details about the case.

Oak Park Superintendent Sandra Harris also did not return calls seeking comment.

"With these sensitive cases we don't want to do anything that would jeopardize our chance of getting a conviction," said Lt. Steve Cooper.

Mary Young, whose 8-year-old granddaughter, Laquira is in third grade at Key, found out about the allegations through a letter Laquira brought home Thursday from school. Young said she wasn't shocked by the charges -- especially after the sex abuse scandal in the Catholic Church, she said -- and planned to withhold judgment against the accused teacher.

"I think it's best not to make a judgment because it might not be true," she said. "He's innocent until proven guilty."

Meanwhile, in Pontiac, arrest warrants also were issued Thursday for teacher and former coach at Pontiac Northern High School accused of fondling a 16-year-old female student.

According to Pontiac police, the student was touched inappropriately several times between December and January of this year. The teacher, whose name isn't being released until he's arraigned, will be charged with one count of second degree criminal sexual conduct and assault and battery charges.

Perry's next court date is 1 p.m. Tuesday in 45B District Court

Our school district is awesome and safe, but we seem to attract all the drug addict teachers. One is serving time in jail, and another was caught with dope during a traffic stop. One of the teachers even smoked stuff with students after school, all within the last few years.

Edit- and then there was the teacher who did it with an eigth grader last year... I don't know where she is now...

Wow, that's almost as weird as when a teacher in my district got fired for something odd. He licked a students scalp and then licked his hair. It was funny. The guy was old and delirious though and he later had a stroke on school property. The guy retired and I haven't seen him since. Lol at child molestation. The only time I go into a strangers van, is when they have CANDY!

Our substance abuse counselor (helps with family problems/if you get raped/thinking about suicide/molestation/drugs) got fired and arrested for doing shit with a highschooler. He's supposed to be helping kids that it happens to rofl

I'm not surprised, this guy is definitly good at controling people, mostly young kids/teens that feel alone/depressed. I bet the kid trusted the guy like hell and he did something, I don't know the story so I can't say, but I just want to say that some students actually fall in love sometimes or just like teachers/counselors like they would like a family member, easy pray for a sexual abuser.

A substitute teacher got in trouble and junk for slapping a girl. From what I heard, it was a really stupid reason, too. That was the most excitement our school has ever had concerning inane teachers and staff.
