Questionairre for an experiment
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured this would be the most appropriate forum. I know it's been a long time and nobody here knows me anymore, but please refrain from flaming and whatnot. :P
I have an anonymous questionairre for a science project that I need to do. It pertains to how you act on the Internet in comparison to real life. Please email me your answers at qualy66@yahoo.com and keep it anonymous, unless you really want to let me know who you are. :P 1.Which community did you find this questionairre? 2. How many communitites do you take an active part in? 3. If more than one community, do you act differently in them? If so, how? 4. How do you act on the Internet in comparison to how you do in real life? 5. Do you more actively participate in forums, chatrooms, or other? 6. Is there any part of yourself that you have adapted to or dropped from your real life because of something you found about yourself on the Internet? Thanks! |

Who could forget you, qualy? You're born to frag.
And I know you said email, but I don't care about anonymity and this should work just as well, too, right? 1.Which community did you find this questionairre? FFR 2. How many communitites do you take an active part in? Three. FFR, a0, and daysofwonder.com 3. If more than one community, do you act differently in them? If so, how? Yes. DoW is a boardgaming site with an average user age a little above thirty with more Europeans than Americans, so I avoid internet slang/humor and any other immature behavior. a0 is just a bunch of kids who think they know everything, so I try to stay out of anything there, and at FFR I'm most like myself. EDIT: I also don't spam my website after signing my posts on DoW. 4. How do you act on the Internet in comparison to how you do in real life? As far as my behavior, it isn't very different. There's just different things to talk about going from real life to online. 5. Do you more actively participate in forums, chatrooms, or other? A little more forums than chat rooms (I'm in the Ticket to Ride chat room a LOT) 6. Is there any part of yourself that you have adapted to or dropped from your real life because of something you found about yourself on the Internet? Nope. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

RE: Questionairre for an experiment
1.Flash Flash Revolution.
2. 3 3. Yeah, I'm a lot more cautious about what I post here, I get the feeling there are a bunch of people just waiting for an excuse to flame me, so I try to avoid being retarded. At Press Start to Play, I'm pretty much an off-topic, annoying poster. No one seems to care, since the forums are pretty new. I'll probably act more mature as less spammers and more serious posters enter the site. At VGCats, I can't really say how I post. It depends on my mood. 4. Rofl, you people would think I'm psychotic in real life. I'm totally crazy, and I love making my friends laugh. 5. Forums, chats don't work. 6. I don't think so.... So no.

RE: Questionairre for an experiment
1.Which community did you find this questionairre? FFR
2. How many communitites do you take an active part in? 5 (2 in which im a admin/forum admin. *gasp*) 3. If more than one community, do you act differently in them? If so, how? Yea, i'm nicer and alot more serious. 4. How do you act on the Internet in comparison to how you do in real life? Here im more relaxed and don't care about what 99% of the people here say because most of them know nothing about anything, by which I mean is they may know about certain internet things but aside from that [most] know nothing. 5. Do you more actively participate in forums, chatrooms, or other? Neither im active in both equally. 6. Is there any part of yourself that you have adapted to or dropped from your real life because of something you found about yourself on the Internet? Yea. |

As for one of the other above comments, it's not really all that stupid. There are a few studies that show that many people at least act differently on the internet, if not adapting something to their real life. It might seem like it may be stupid or dumb, but it happens to people, whether you accept it or not. |
