My Faith Is Restored

The entire new Japanese Kingdom Hearts 2 trailer has been released in light of the December 22 release. At first I was skeptical, but after I saw the trailer, my faith has been restored. A badass Mickey throwing off his cloak and weilding the keyblade? Do I need to say anymore? Take a look and you might be suprised.

All I pulled from the video were simple snippets of phrases.

The kid falling is mentioning if it's really possible for him to save the world... I think. The next scenes are him refusing to bother with it, then people telling him that Sora can't do it alone.

The Wizard dude says something about a Door of Light. Sora closed the Door of Darkness. Connection? Or maybe the Door of Light references the spawning of the white heartless things.

Then the Disney characters show up. The first one asks who they are. Don't know what Pooh says. Don't know what Genie says. Jack says the obvious (Happy Christmas). The dude from the Lion King tells Simba to wait. Auron says something. Ursula says something. Girl from Mulan says something. Axel says something. Old drunk dude says something. (Sorry, I really have no friggin' clue!)

Then Yuffie tells Sora to watch out. The white heartless attack, and Sora asks what it is they are after, and they reply "Kingdom Hearts". "Sora, good work." They say what they're gonna do with it (which I can't understand) and it obviously pisses Mickey off, as he says "Unforgivable!" and attacks.

Fighting scenes

I think Sora says the fighting is useless ("we're not strong enough"), hence his depressed mood mid-battle and unwillingness to fight. Then he mentions something about his Keyblade. Maybe it can't open / close the door he's seeking. Then he asks what they can do to fix all the problems.

Organization members say something, then the girl (forgot her name) says, "It's a promise, forever!"

And the rest I can't figure out.

All of this comes from someone with no Japanese courses taken whatsoever, so take it at whatever value you think is necessary.

PS - I was going NUTS trying to figure out the voice of Sora. It's Syaoran from Tsubasa Chronicle!

I have 4 things I would like to say.

1: The Tron glimpse made me flip out. A 35 minute ninja flipout. I don't know the details, but when I gained consoiusness I was in my ninja gear and three motorcycles were in my garage with different colored neon lights on each. I'm waiting for NMHQ to call back and tell me if they're stolen.

2: I hope they have some kinda secret easter egg area you unlock once you beat the game that's based on Fantasia. It'll be like a sort of Sound Test feature, but mind-blowingly awesome.

3: Even if it didn't have Tron, Mulan and Stitch makes this instant winnage.

4 things to say? Last time I counted, I saw 3. XD Well, this looked awesome. It appears that kairi(sp?) gets kidnapped again... The story seems better than the last, and the fighting system looks improved. Looks awesome.

Anyway, what exactly was the story of the GBA KH game? It ties into KH2.

I'll tell you what, it has been soo long since i last beat the game that im losing some of my desire to go through a whole nother storyline. Plus after watching that i think that id rather have them make it into a movie with the kind of graphics they use in the cinimatics. Thats what i hate about sequels of those kind of games, like with metroid prime, i beat it but then when the second one came out i didnt even bother to play it because it was just too long, and i like RPG's as much as the next Final Fantasy gamer but sometimes sequels are just not worth it to go through again. But the new battle system does look a lot cooler, im really interested in what the limit guage is.

Chain of Memories basically had you go through all the previous worlds you went through in the first game, only from an isocentric (is that right?) perspective. All of these worlds came from Sora's memory, in some sort of castle they found while getting lost on that path at the end of the first game. For some reason, he couldn't remember "that person" (Kairi) and another girl (Naminé) was trying to alter his memory to make herself be "that person" instead of Kairi. There was some sort of Organization (I forget if it really had a name) that was manipulating her, making her do this. There was something about losing memories and crap, too. There was also a new area called Twilight Town, where you basically fought the same repetitive battles over and over again in a new location. Its significance? I do not remember.

It's worth picking up to see what's been going on with Riku, though, who you can play as after you finish with Sora. I'm sorry I can't provide you with an accurate description of his story, though. It's been too long.

Ok, To add another point then.

The figthing engine looks to be the same as the old one. Which sucked. I never liked the free roaming Rpg Battle fighting style. Another reason why this is going to suck.

If you think the battle system is going to be the same then I seriously lost some respect for you. You can't judge a book by its cover and neither ca you judge a game by a trailer. If you have been foloowing up on any info you would know that the battle system has been reworked, the camera has been fixed and overall gameplay has been adjusted. If you are a KH fan, there is no reason that you shouldn't play this game.

Oh, this game looks serious kickass just like the first. Sucks I dont have PS2 >_> Damn my Nintendo fanboyism!

And one question: Why can Japanese game makers lip synch better than Jap. animators? Wouldn't synching by drawing be much easier than synching with models? Just sounds like it would, as it would for me =/
