Doukutsu Monogatari (Cave Story)

So can anyone here beat this?

Thx to the people who made stepfiles to music from this game... got me to go play it myself...

That's my fastest run so far, hoping to eventually get sub 3 min, but to do that, probably gonna hafta use a few more tricks to save time...

PS. keyboard only... I don't have a turbo controller...

the game is called Doukutsu Monogatari, translated to "Cave Story"... you can google it, it's freeware...

if your comp is like mine and can't read japanese, you'll be guessing when clicking links as to which one is for the actual game... the filename should be like... douxxxx.lzh (xxx = some random numbers I don't remember)... you can use winzip or sumthing to decompress it... it's pretty small...

it's an adventure/action platform game similar to metroid/megaman... very retro-ish w/ 8-bit style music and graphics... very fun game IMO...

if you go to the secret extra level at the end of the game (Sacred Grounds aka Hell) they time how fast you beat it (that counter in the top left corner of my SS)... you can play the final stage over and over to better your time... and if you get your time under certain benchmarks, the icon and BG music for the opening screen change... The fastest time I've heard of is like... 2'16 or 2'17... first time I beat it, it took me like 10 minutes, and it took me quite a few tries to beat it at all... now I can get sub 3'30 fairly consistently...

I felt compelled to post some SM related brag in thsi thread...

there's a stepfile called "Final Battle" also from the game, but I don't have a decent score on it yet... >_<

both those scores are like a month old I think...
